While out on a trip surveying trails for damage post windstorm, I had to stop and take hair pictures up at Wind Caves.
Can I call this almost knee?
The view from Wind Caves across the sandstone formations above Tassajara Creek
And a front picture.
Hair out of ponyscrub and finger combed quickly.
Pony Scrubs...not just for women!
I do not know which is more impressive; your hair or the incredible scenery....
Thanks for Sharing both !!
Walter
You're welcome!
The scenery, by far!
Wind Caves is in the middle right, in the sunlight, viewed from the next ridge south. Sorry about the image quality, my panorama stitcher made some adjustments to match the images.
Trolleypup,
Wonderful look---Happy Solstice!
peace, jonalbear
Well, I'd call it fabulous length! Congratulations, Ian
Hair is looking great and your longest hairs look as though they may qualify for almost knee.
Jeremy
Hi Trolleypup,
Yes, I can safely say your hair can qualify as knee length:)I'd love to have hair that long but I don't think it will happen so I'll have to be satisfied with around waist length. Not going to complain as at least I still have all my hair volume:)
That's a cool area you are at but where exactly are the Wind Caves?I visit California often and that looks like a interesting place to visit for future longhair meetups. However if it's really windy might want to put some ties in the hair for safety and to prevent tangles;)Cheers
Mark
It is still a little shy of knee.
About 3.5 hours south of San Francisco, the last 15 miles on a very rough dirt road, then a few miles up a steep rough trail. "Wind Caves" refers to the theory that the wind carved the sandstone formations...actually they are created by water movement within the porous rock dissolving and redepositing the "glue" that holds the sand grains together. For the location the Wind Caves are remarkably calm and sheltered...which is not to say that there aren't plenty of hair hazards on the way there.
There are other similar sandstone formations that are much more accessible, Castle Rock in the South Bay is one, but the Wind Caves are spectacularly located in the Ventana Wilderness, high in the Santa Lucia Mountains above Big Sur.
Except when I was taking a break at Wind Caves, my hair was up in a pony scrub...I took it out and finger combed it there to let the sweat dry a bit before taking the pictures.
Congratulations, your hair is marvellous and goes on growing; i should like such that mine reach my knees.
Well, I was stalled at 53" for years, then I moved down to 56", and a casual measurement just now give me another inch or two...definitely not complaining.
Yours looks like you have a way to go in length...the ends are still relatively blunt...so good luck!
Trolleypup, those are amazing pics -- both the spectacular mountain scenery, as well as your inspiring hair!!!
Yes, I'd say you are very close to knee-length indeed... my goal length as well, although I'll be surprised if my genetics will allow me to achieve that, as my guess is that I'm seeing too many signs that I'm at or very near to terminal length. I need to take some update pics myself soon, too!!
I hope all is going well for you. I keep thinking one of these days I'll bump into you again on MUNI; but it's been nearly a year now since I last saw you "live and in-person" -- in any case, wishing you a wonderful new year in 2012, and thanks for sharing your great pics!

It is an amazing spot. More or less inspired by this thread I reviewed a bunch of images and I really need to generate a new set of hair pictures...the years long stall at 53" is History. A informal measuring puts me back on the 1/2" per month growth pattern!
Given my new work position and schedule, I'm spending a lot less time out and about during the day...if you aren't wandering around near any of my posts in the evening, less likely to see me IRL.
Funny how it creeps up on you...looking at old pictures and thinking how short the hair is!

Your hair appears to be knee length to me. It is slightly longer than mine now.
The wind caves look familiar. It looks like Rock City which I discovered one day on a bike ride on a mountain road high above Danville.

Just short of knee, by less than an inch! Woo!
There are sandstone formations like this all over California, ground moisture + extended dry season produces this fairly consistently!
Wow ... now that's a fabulous mane! Is "hair-envy" a word? It might be a "hair" short of knee length, but just look up and you're there:)
