Hi Pug,
I just noticed your post, now quite a way down the page, asking if the characters of Fili and Kili are hobbits or dwarves.
They are dwarves.
Attached is a picture of Thorin's company, to keep this post on-topic :)

Speaking of the new Hobbit movie i'm dreading it, my understanding
is it will be in 3D. I for one hate 3D movies.
It will be available in 3-D at many locations, though I believe you'll still be able to see it in traditional 2-D at more old-fashioned venues. My only experience with a 3-D film was watching "Thor" earlier this year, and I also detest it. Never again will I pay extra for the lousy, distracting gimmick that is 3-D. If it's the only option, I'll wait to see the movie in 2-D at home when it comes out on DVD.

You are correct it will be released in both formats in the theater, so you can choose. I also detest 3D movies as I feel it adds nothing to the film going experience, and studios use it as an excuse to push low quality scripts out.
Jeremy
Do you have a source for that? Around here Harry Potter was the only film that even gave you a choice.
There are also theaters who are charging in excess of $20
for 3D movies.
BTW, analysts on Wall Street are predicting that 3D will be dead
after not too long, too many bad 3D movies being released. They
are being released to perfect the technology.
They talked about the film being released in 3D on the hobbitblog.com some time ago, and how it would be released in real 3D, iMax 3D, and 2D next December. I hope this helps...
Jeremy
I wouldn't bet the rent on it.
Most of the movies in recent months were in 3D or nothing.
Harry Potter was the only movie that gave you the choice.
(I wear glasses and 3d movies have never worked well with
glasses.)

Many over the age of 50 also experience things like Nausea at
3D movies. (59%?)
if anyone is interested they released the first trailer for the film. You can find it here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903624/
As a LOTR shill I think it looks awesome..
Jeremy
Thanks for the info.
As a LotR fan who has tragically never read "The Hobbit" or "The Sillmarion," I do know basic lore about the different races but the actors' portrayal is conflicting. I've NEVER heard of dwarves having beards that tiny. ;) Then again, the books do say that all hobbits have curly hair.
Elves are sissies. Khazâd ai-mênu!
