... J.R.R. Tolkien (belated by a few minutes). Though not a long-haired man himself, his works (and the film adaptations thereof) have certainly inspired a great number of men to grow their hair long.

Huh? You do realize that Tolkein wrote Lord of the Rings in the
1930 as seven stories?
But yes the film adaptation from Jackson had many long hairs to inspire us.
And The Hobbit in two parts will hopefully have more long haired guys to inspire us.

Yes, we have much to be thankful for with regards to his vivid descriptions of Middle Earth. He frequently would describe in detail the hair of his characters both male and female. Far more often than not, it was long and in some cases very long. His characters have been looked to by many and it's all helped our cause.
