Well, here is a hair update for me. I typically have been shaving my neck hair as I do not like it.
I have been growing my hair for almost 16 months now without a hair cut.
Some interesting questions, do you think it is long enough to braid it in any way? What else could one do at this stage?
Also in regards to Rogaine, perhaps you may notice that my hair is somewhat thin. I am 28. I have been using Rogaine foam in the typical bald spot area. Does anyone have experience with Rogaine especially using it on other parts of the head?

Mark;
That is a great length for 16 months. Sure experiment with braiding.....keep it growing.

Hi Mark,
Welcome to the hyperboard, and I agree with Walter, this is excellent length for 16 months of growing.
I am not sure about the long term effects as to how well Rogaine works, but another medication you might want to consider is propecia, which is definitely effective in preventing further loss(and can reverse loss in some cases), especially if started at a young age. You should talk to your doctor, and obtain a referral to see a dermatologist if at all possible to get the best possible advice.
Good luck, and keep it growing!
David
Hi Mak,
Re. your braids question, braiding is a gradually-accomplished skill -- as well as a "gradually-helpful" thing to learn... the longer your hair gets, the more you'll want to be able to do this (as well as the easier and easier it will get in your ability to do so; both through just the doing of it, as well as through added length. I see no reason why you couldn't start learning this skill now, however, even though your braid might be a bit short at the moment. My own first-time braiding attempts were a bit clunky-looking; but, as the old saying goes, "practice makes perfect!"
Re. your Rogaine question, I have no experience whatsoever with that product. Although I don't really have any noticeable MPB (as far as I've ever noticed), my hairline has receded a bit around the temples over the years, as well as my hair in general is not as thick & full as it used to be when I was in my teens and 20s; but I've learned to just accept whatever Mother Nature and hair genetics has gifted me with -- and have always been totally supportive of guys who want to grow their hair out, regardless of whatever degree of MPB they might have.
If you enjoy your hair being long, don't let the infamous "Fashion Police" dictate to you what you "can" and "can't" do with your own hair. You DON'T have to have so-called perfect hair in order to have it long... Just grow it out to whatever length & style you'd like, take good care of it, and then show your middle finger to anyone who ever tells you that you "should" cut it!
That's my $.02 on the Rogaine topic!!
