Hi Hairy People,
For Northern California, normally it's rainy and quite cold this time of year; but not so this year (so-far). I had a great day off along the coast yesterday, a nice way to end the afternoon before heading back to work this morning. I'm glad I decided to play with my camera a bit, including removing my hair-tie and getting this lucky self-snapped hair shot!
Just for the record...
For those of you who remember the fact that I was experimenting for awhile with coloring my beard (with the product, "Just for Men"), I decided in November to go back to my natural "Santa Claus white" (LOL) -- which is pretty much the same exact color that my hair is also turning. Thank goodness for late afternoon sunlight, which is my " big secret" that gives this pic the illusion that my hair still has a bit of the original blonde coloring left to it (LOL)!!
This photo might even be good enough to turn it into my new avatar portrait! (After all, my current avatar photo is only about 8 years old now - oops!)

A great pic, Ken. Embrace the white. ine is likely going the same way. Most of my moustache has gone white and it is spreading beyond the temples. Age is a marvelous thing. and long white hair and beard will give you a Gandolph/Merlin like aura.
Thanks so much for the nice comments, Rktect! I'm trying my best to cultivate the Gandolf / Merlin aura in other ways besides just the hair & beard as well (LOL)....
Long live all hairy old geezers (and longhaired young "eventual geezers" as well)!
May our fingers still touch our toes when we bend forward in the morning, and our hair still reach our knees (or, at least CLOSE to that goal - LOL)!!
- Ken
Hi Ken!
Love the look. You remind me of a Norse chieftan ready to go "viking" in Northern England! Can I join your crew?
LOL, sure -- although my "sea legs" and sword skills are both VERY wobbly!
Thanks for the kind comments!!
Long Lox 4ever,
Ken in San Francisco
That would make a great avatar picture Ken - Fantastic colour and look, Ian
Thanks so much, Ian, I agree also! I'm glad I wore that orange T-shirt underneath my jacket yesterday, as it provided the perfect color compliment against that blue blue sky!!
Off to work now; but when I come back home in a few days, I'll remember to e-mail the Moderator(s) who take care of changing these avatar portraits... I can't believe how lazy I've been about updating mine -- 8 years using the same pic is a bit of a long time, don't you think? (LOL)
- Ken
Hi Ken,
This is a great photo, and really shows your mane in the natural beauty of California perfectly, and I agree that it would make a fabulous new avatar, so go for it!
Ah, one of these days, I WILL get out your way, I promise!
Take care,
David
Hi David,
Always a pleasure to hear from you, my friend! And thanks so much for the kind comments!
It would be hands-down TERRIFIC if you made it out West here for a visit to SF someday, I would definitely go out of my way to make sure we finally get a chance to meet each other in-person if that happens! But, I also realize that most people these days don't have a lot of extra $$ to do as much traveling as they used to (it's true for me, at least); so I'll understand if you won't be out here by tomorrow (LOL)....
All kidding aside, thank you again for your very nice response, David! It's always a joy to hear from you!!

Hi again Ken:)
Wow,another splendid photo shoot of your fantastic hair. That's cool you had the day off, and good weather at the same time, to make this possible.I've been fortunate that the weather back here in the east has been nice considering the time of year. With the exception of that freak snowstorm around Halloween it's been relatively mild except for the past couple days that were very cold.
I'm still coloring my beard with Henna when I do touch ups to my hair.Figuring I have the stuff out why not do them both together. In a couple more weeks I'll be due for another touch up but maybe I'll stretch it a bit longer this time.
Sorry I missed your calls last weekend but maybe this one we can try again.Anyway thanks for posting your new pics and hope to catch up with you soon my friend:)Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark,
I already gave you a rather lengthy reply to your comments about my hairy bun pic, below; so I'll keep it short here (my response short, NOT my hair - LOL)....
Thanks again, Mark, you are a gentleman and a diplomat -- or, as the old saying goes: "a gentleman and a scholar and a judge of fine whisky and women"... although when I think about it, I don't have a clue what your taste is, especially in regards to either whiskey or women... But at least I know you have excellent taste in HAIR!!!
OK, enough of my silliness... I can tell I need to go to bed soon, whenever I start to get a bit punchy and come out with cornier and cornier jokes that start making no sense whatsoever, even to me!
Later,
Ken
Hey Ken! :-)
My friend "Claude", (last name Monet) took one look at your wonderful photo and quickly got out his brushes and paints and here is the finished product. (Perhaps an "Oil Painting" idea for an avatar?)
Thank you for saying all of the kind things you did in the thread way down now about myself and the young Man who posted such a great video about his hair progress. That was really kind of you. He tells me he is growing it all back for sure and lives in Austria of all places.
I made way too many crazy Long Hair videos even after my hair finally bit the dust and took 9 months to continue falling out after the hospital surgery. So, now just funny little things like below with a rekindled hobby of sorts that I did as a Teen and into my early thirties which is restoring old Pump Organs.
Again many thanks for your kind words and wishing you the best for a Happy and Healthy New Year and lots of lbs shed along the way. Before you know it Hollywood will be calling and they pay HIGH! :-)

I feel very honored that Claude Monet came back from the dead just to paint a pic of ME!!!
WOW, will wonders ever cease!
Anyway, Justin, thanks for your kind comments (and unusual paint job!), as it's always nice to hear from you!!
I'm at a computer at work right now, too tired to type anymore, and have to get myself to bed here so I can get up and function properly tomorrow morning; so will just keep this reply short...
"May the Great Bird of Paradise nest gently in our hair, watering and fertilizing it to grow long & strong as the Green Bay Tree!"
(OK, now I can REALLY tell it's time for me to go to bed!!)
Long Lox 4ever,
Ken
Fantastic photo Ken....as usual with your beautiful hair blowing in the California winds.....
As far as replacing your avatar....I would sure miss that wonderful smile. !!
Keep it Flowing my Friend
Walter
Hi Walter,
Thanks so much for the kind words, as I much appreciate them!!!
I like my original avatar pic very very much -- in fact, I'm a bit nostalgic about it, because that pic as well as all of my hair pics on my silly website were all taken by Bill back in Feb. & March of '04... which brings back a heck of a lot of fun memories!
However...
Do you realize that was almost 8 years ago?? I mean, OMG, I was only a mere teenager back then (LOL - and if you believe that, I also have a bridge for sale...)!
In any case, I haven't made up my mind for sure yet; but I'm currently leaning in favor of an avatar change, if for no other reason than I want to TRY to abide by the MLHH rules of updating those portraits every 5 years at the minimum... which means I'm already well over 2 years behind in that!
Regardless, it's always nice to read your replies, Walter -- and as I also said to you back a month or so ago when I e-mailed you privately, I'm so glad you're back home from Afghanistan, and back here with us on the board!!
Long Lox 4ever,
Ken
Absolutely gorgeous hair, I love the different tones of color!
Peace,
Kenny
Thanks so much, Kenny -- although in reality my hair is turning whiter and whiter... Or should I call it "silver?" (LOL)
You can call it silver until you have a fully snow white mane!
