Hi Hairy People,
Depending on which way you spell it, I could be talking about the behavior of HAIR itself (by keeping the 2 words "long" and "hair" separate); or, I could be talking about a person or a group of people who just so happen to have long hair (by spelling it as one word, "longhair") -- and what the behavior of those people or that person happens to be...
Aren't semantics FUN?? (LOL)
Anyway, in this situation (as you can probably judge for yourself by the attached photo), I am discussing the independent behavior of LONG HAIR (as opposed to the way very short hair behaves, the behavior of the hair itself -- regardless of the tacky personal behavior in question of the old geezer who's wearing it, LOL)!
For those who are new to growing your hair out, be prepared: long hair is NOT a very "cooperative" kind of friend... It is stubborn. It has a mind of its own. How you THINK it will look when you walk out that door in the morning, will NOT be how it will stay... In fact, it just plain DOESN'T "stay" -- it moves around a lot!
Even without the wind blowing it in two different directions at once (as seen here in this recent pic of me taken just last week), long hair always seems to be on the move somewhere: constantly shifting, falling, catching, bouncing, blowing, and even buffooning...
My advise on how to control long hair? Other than using: hair-ties, hats, bandanas, braids, buns, etc., just get used to it -- and smile, reminding yourself of the fact that this is the price you've had to pay for that hard-earned wild-looking mane!

Mother Nature is like a fickle flaming flamingo -- can't make up her mind which way to go; so changing the feather directions every second.
At the exact moment that I self-snapped this pic, Mother Nature had decided she wanted me to look like I had bangs in front (AKA "fringe"); but the very next moment, she was in another mood entirely...
The good news about Mother Nature's tastes in hair-styling, though, is that she never, EVER uses scissors!
Hurray for Mama Nature!!!!!!!

Some nice ramblings there Ken! I've found very similar things re long hair and mother nature!
Might I commend you on a nice full beard too, something that's beyond the realms of possibility for me (though, I'm only 25). Though I'm not complaining, shaving once a week is fine for me!
Keep enjoying the beaches, I'll get to SF in the next couple of years!
Thanks for the nice comments, Logdog, I much appreciate them!
Re. beards...
I first attempted growing one during the year I turned 21. Although my mustache looked more like a mis-placed eyebrow, I gradually became attached to having facial hair, even though for me my early attempts were rather pitiful-looking.
Hair history is a fun thing to think back on and see old pictures of, including facial hair history. When I was 24, I had a job that unexpectedly required a clean-shaven face from me (it was the job that moved me to California from the Midwest; but I didn't know that was an issue with the new job until I arrived in SF!)... Exactly 2 years later, I quit that job and got myself another one -- and have had a beard ever since!
During the '90s my hair and beard gradually transformed from blonde to "salt & pepper", eventually turning it's current Santa Claus white color (with just a small amount of blonde still remaining in my hair, especially at the longest part of the ends)...
By all means, my advise is to have fun experimenting with facial hair, as well as with your head hair -- life is too short and too precious not to enjoy experiencing every aspect of it!
Thanks again for your reply!!

Definitely... here's a great example:
"Lets eat Grandpa!"
"Lets eat, Grandpa!"

Hi Ken,
These are such cool pics, and it really seems as though you see the wind as a "friend", and not an enemy, and you get lots of it your way! I sure know about the wind here in Nova Scotia, and admit that I am not its biggest fan!
Take care,
David
Thanks, David, I much appreciate your comments!
In reality, only when I'm taking photos of my hair do I find the wind fascinatingly "friendly" -- every other day of the week it gives me plenty of trouble (LOL)....
I'm not surprised that Nova Scotia is a windy place, as any coastal area (especially a peninsula) is bound to be so; but to me, it's part of the joy and unique character of the land we live in, so even more fun to include it in our pics.
Thanks again for your kind comments, always a pleasure hearing from you!!
