Hey everyone, I used to be a member here when I had long and VERY damaged hair. Even though I didn't post here anymore I kept visiting this great board. I've seen such awesome hair lately, congrats to all the new growers!
2 years ago I shaved all my hair off to a 5mm buzzcut and started to grow it out again. After 1 year my hair came out as an Emo-like hairstyle wich I sported until June 2011. Then I decided to go for a new, particoular cut...since then I've been keeping my sides shaved, a fringe and some spikes in the middle and kept growing the back of my hair. January 8th 2012 marked my 2nd year without trims in the back, except for a couple of thinnings I had last year (wich I kinda regretted since it took me several months to gain thickness back)
That's how my hair looks alike now! (In the back)
No plans to trim or anything for at least one year. My hair's in good condition except for some split ends caused by the hair straightener.
Hi 'Radiazione'
Just thought I'd offer some advice to maintain your very cool emo look.
(1) As we all know using straighteners can cause damage to your hair. Best advice on how to minimise this is to use a heat-protect serum before you straighten your hair.
A product like this: http://www.feelunique.com/p/ghd-Style-Heat-Protectant-Spray-120ml can help.
(2) Whilst split ends will take care of themselves (ie: split, break and split again) they are a symptom of dryness in your hair, so using s moisturising conditioner, at least on the ends of your hair (such as a leave in product) will help reduce this problem.
Example: http://www.redken.com/products/haircare/extreme/extreme-anti-snap
(3) My hairdresser advises trimming the dry ends and I tend to follow his advice, a 1cm trim every 3 months won't dent your progress much and will keep the splits at bay if you are going to use straighteners regularly. Least that's my experience.
(4) Finally try to avoid using straighteners more than twice a week. Time your hair care routine so it coincides with your activities, if you play sports, wash, condition straighten you hair the next day, never before, cos then you just have to wash your hair again and do it over. Get me?
Anyway hope that's not teaching you to suck eggs.

Thank you very much for the suggestion! Yeah, my hair's a bit dry on the ends, I think that I'd need to trim off at last 3-5 cm, but I'm gonna wait at least until June or September to do so. I'm not using the hair straightener lately, my hair looks straight even without it thanks to a shampoo, conditioner and cream wich I'm using.
Andrea, right? I still remember you. I actually stopped posting a few months after you left and just started again about a month and a half ago.
Good to see you back!

And here's a pic of how my hair looks from one side.
(This pic was taken around the 8th of December, my hair still had some awful highlits)
That is awesome, I *love* it!!! The studs in your ear are cool too. :)
