Hey everyone,
Just to share a "lightbulb" moment I had tonight.
My old shower cap was getting ratty, starting to come apart so I needed a new one. I refuse to be seen in a store buying any kind of "beauty" products for long hair mostly because of my ego.
Want to know what I used instead!?.........a grocery bag!!! yes you read right, a plastic grocery bag. I have a ton of these things.
Basically I grabbed one without holes in it, started from the back of my head to cover the length and wrap around my forehead then tucking it behind my ears. Amazingly, it stayed in place the whole time. When done, take the bag off, and my hair stayed bone dry.
Weird yes but hey it works great!!
Here ia my industrial strength shower cap made from an old shower curtain with 1/2" wide elastic. I cut a round piece about 20" in diameter, folded the edges over, and hand stitched the elastic inside. This holds all 3 feet plus of my hair. The wimpy "baby pants" elastics in the shower caps sold at the store are a joke and would not begin to hold the full weight of my 3 foot mane.
My shower super cap is probably the only one of its kind in the world.

Hi Scott,
I have to admit you are the only one I know who would go through
the trouble to manufacture your own personal shower cap!LOL.However
I do understand your reasoning but I did get a chuckle out of your post:)I think
your cap would work well should you ever decide to henna your hair being it
must be covered several hours with a cap to let the henna do it's thing.Maybe
you should mass produce those and sell them online;)

Hi Mark, Scott, & Michael,
Apologies for using "text speak" (LOL); but that way I could fit more content into the subject title!
For myself, I never bother with ANY shower cap -- just twisting my hair into a tornado-style bun on top of my head (maybe placed a bit higher than normal, tho) does the trick for me...
Interesting to read about other guy's strange & exotic hair habits, though!

My feelings exactly. I just put it all on top and use one of
those large clip things to hold it in place. If you are just
semi careful you don't get your hair much wet.
If I don't want my hair to get wet I just skip a short or two or three
Huh?
My mistake. Meant to write shower. Auto correct on my phone is a pain in the ass
