Thanks for the great board guys, but there won't be any more updates from me. I cut my hair a couple of weeks ago and so far have not regretted it, I waited a long long while thinking about it before actually committing the act which kept me from making a mistake on a whim. I think long hair is awesome on a lot of guys but was getting tired of it on myself and wasn't liking the way I looked with it tied back (which I was finding myself doing more and more often), and it was getting in my way a lot (always getting caught up or tangled while rough housing with family and such, even when tied back I'd always have to brush it again and retie it often).
It seemed to be getting into a permanent irritating dry frizz toward the last several months as well which may have been due to using too strong of a shampoo too often, not sure, oil was becoming less helpful as time went on. Either way I was getting tired of it and am now happy with the shorter length. I did not go with a complete buzz but I did use clippers so that I could do it myself at home, I used the longest setting so it was just over an inch when I first cut it but will probably let it grow long enough to comb (thinking Riker length for those of you that are familiar with Star Trek).
I will spare you guys the after pics but just wanted to say that I greatly enjoyed growing my hair out while it was still fun for me, but am happier now than I was during the last several months. It wasn't a peer pressure thing. I do NOT recommend anyone cut their own hair without serious thought for at least a month however. I may regrow it (probably will someday, as I enjoy the occasional change in appearance), but it probably won't be for quite some time. Best wishes all and thanks for the support along the way. :)
I might lurk around a teeny bit still but probably won't be doing much posting anymore.
Well although it kinda sucks to see some hair go it's better to see someone happier with themselves.
Good luck with life, man.

Well, the very best of luck for the future. There are many of us who have gone from long to short and back to long over the course of out lives so don't be surprised if you come back to wanting long hair at some time. So keep enjoying life's journey and the choices you make along the way. Take care, Ian
Hi there, well long hair isn't for everyone and I wish you the very best in your life. You at least had a go at it and didn't find it suitable for yourself so that's fine too. I think the main message of this board is supporting anyone to have the right to choose which hair length they want be it either long or short.
cheers, duncan
Thanks Duncan and all others. I have never in my life had anything against men with long hair as some seem to, but I feel I have an even greater appreciation and insight into it now than before. :)
Like I said I have a hard time just sticking to one appearance sometimes so as long as I don't go bald I'll probably end up with long hair again at some point even if it isn't soon. But for right now, in the last couple months before cutting it I was ending up feeling like I wanted it gone more often than not and that was telling me that it was time for a change. I always had "moments of weakness" before but this time it was more persistent so I went with it. Not a single regret so far though, so I'm confident that I waited long enough to decide and didn't make a mistake for me. Keep growing guys, long hair is awesome, I just needed a break and in my life right now shorter hair is just what feels right on me again. I will say that I miss the feeling of it on my upper back and shoulders however, but aside from that I'm finding the days more carefree than before. Best wishes all and as I said I may still lurk around some, but probably just won't be very active anymore. Have fun! :D
Greetings AnotherSchmoe,
I was so sorry to read your post but I thank you for telling us what went on with you regarding your hair.Obviously you more than followed the two week rule so what more could you have done.I for one will miss you but who knows maybe down the road you'll be back as I've seen that happen to many guys before since I've been on this site.Whether or not you do it was great getting to know you as you seemed like a class act:)I wish you the best in the future and feel free to drop in from time to time.Take care my friend:)Cheers
Mark
Maybe you'll grow your hair back someday!
Dee.

All I can say is that while I thought you had beautiful hair and hate the thought of you cutting it, I can certainly understand your reasons. Long hair can be a pain a times, and if the bad days outnumber the good then I guess it is time for a change. Good luck with wherever your hair journey takes you in the future!

Gotta say, I'm a little sad you cut your hair. I thought it was pretty amazing, and it was always a great motivation seeing your updates. But you have to do what's right for you, and as long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

I have always supported a person's desire to experiment with all facets of life, including style....hair and otherwise.
Enjoy you new phase, and you are always welcome to return to the MLHH and the longhair life.
Best of Luck to you.

I have to say, first: I've always gotten a kick out of your handle that you use here, "AnotherSchmoe!" You've always struck me as a guy with a fun sense of humor -- and whether your mane is long or short, the fact that you decide how you want your own hair to be, not being influenced by outside pressure of trying to "fit in" at all with another's expectations, but just being your own person -- this, to me, is the true spirit of being a longhair, regardless of length!
Although I will miss seeing the awesome update pics of your fantastic-looking mane (because in my own selfish opinion I thought your hair looked incredibly excellent looooong), in the end, I am happy, as long as you are happy!
Reminds me of when my youngest brother cut off his ponytail back 20 or more years ago....
At first I was heart-broken (because he had truly GREAT-looking hair!); but gradually over time, once I realized how he seemed genuinely happier with his hair short, I realized that the proper attitude for me to have was to support him 100% in whatever he most wished for himself -- and so, the same rule applies here...
Thanks for being a part of MLHH, I've enjoyed your contributions to this community very much -- and in fact, in my view you should feel welcome here ANYtime, regardless of whatever length of hair you choose to have on your head!
Take care, and please stay in touch!
