Spent the day on the Barrett-Jackson auto auction grounds today, opening day. B-J is one of 6 auto auctions being held in the valley over the next week-10days. I happened to notice that there were many longhairs on site. both guesta and various employees of the auction and vendor/sponsor companies. Not a majority but a still a noticeable percentage. I and my friend, Craig, both, were far from alone, and noticed this. It is good to see, the car culture absolutely has no issue with hair.
Hi Rktect,
I recall a few years ago during the Saturday evening live telecast of the main auction that brings in the high rollers. They had this car they were trying to gin up the bids on for charity and during the bidding this guy on stage, who must have been a Barrett/Jackson employee, with a blonde ponytail had it hacked off to spur the bidding higher!I was absolutely disgusted as it was a butcher cut at the hair tie with standard office scissors.I turned off the program and was done for the night after that.If you are a regular watcher of this Scottsdale auction I'm sure you might remember that episode.Maybe I'll watch it again this year but that was a bit much to absorb at the time.

Man, I missed that, and would be aghast to have witnessed such a feat. however. it is a circus and all manner of strange acts do occur. i still stand by my observation. and do not consider the ill advised act of an employee (who was likely paid well, or was considering cutting it and the bosses jumped at the opportunity to create some interest. I just can't fathom the decision either way) as indicative of the overall mindset, nor will I condemn the entire car collector culture. There ARE many long haired men involved with collectible autos and I suppose some guys will have a price that can be easily met.
As bad as it was to watch I don't hold it against the car collector/ auctioneer culture. It was probably maybe 2007 or 2008 this may have occurred and if I remember correctly I even posted on this very board about it just after seeing it live.So it should be somewhere in the archives during January of whatever that year was.I can only imagine the energy level during Saturday night especially if you are there in person.Someday I'd love to attend that event being I'm a car guy myself but I'll be sure to protect my hair within an inch of its life!LOL

Good to see another gearhead on the site!
Never actually been to Barret-Jackson but one of my favs to watch on Speed :) Long hair definetly fits the bill with the cars they have.
