Hi Hairy People,
It's not uncommon for me to be asked if I color my hair at all -- especially this question most often comes from people who have never actually met me "in the flesh"; but only know me from places like here... It's a perfectly good question to ask, so I have no problem answering it: no, I never have colored my hair in any way -- although I have used hair dye on my beard occasionally.
BUT.... I do have a "big secret" that I don't mind revealing:
I love using photography tricks!
Here's a really good example of a photo that Mark (Hairball) took of me with my camera last September, when he was out visiting my fair city. Two things are working in my favor to make my hair look extra-lucious in color: 1) the time of day, which was very late in the afternoon, cast very complimentary lighting on my hair, making it look a much richer-looking reddish-blonde than it really is; 2) the brown shirt on my back minimized the noticeability of all the white in my hair.
Also...
If there's any opportunity for me to "stretch the truth" a bit by tilting my head at a certain angle to make my hair look even longer, I do that, too (LOL)!!
Anyway, I'll follow this post up with including a funny photography mistake, after posting this...
Enjoy!!

Conversely to using photography "tricks" to bring out the best in one's hair, or other physical features about oneself, would be to stay aware of potential photography boo-boos. Here's a good example of some things I hadn't thought of ahead-of-time, prior to asking Scott (Absalom) or Mark (Hairball) to take this pic of me (I can't remember which one of you took this silly shot!):
1) although this shade of green for a shirt USED TO look good one me when I was younger, it now only magnifies all of the white hairs in my head, as well as makes me a bit sea-sick looking!
2) the weather on this particular day being a bit overcast (as well as standing under the additional shade of this huge tree), made my hair look EVEN MORE whitish-green!!
Now onto the biggest mistake of all:
In my effort to "stretch the truth" as much as possible (trying to make my hair look butt-length, when it really isn't quite honestly that long yet), the end result of this pic looks like I'm doing some unmentionable things to this poor innocent tree...
So, there you have it: you now all know my "big secrets" to making my hair look as good as possible -- as well as the opposite!

Looking at this picture the lyrics of "Draggin the Line" come
to mind.
"Loving the free and feelin' spirit
Of huggin' a tree when you get near it"
Hi again Ken:)
Honestly I'm not sure who the photographer was that took that shot.lol.I guess it had to be either Scott or myself unless Larry grabbed that one.Yes, that's it, let's blame Larry!LOL.Seriously, you look great in lime green so I wouldn't sweat it and the pose is far from X rated;)

Hi(gh)!
This is not about your photos (which are very good), Ken, but I wonder how many longhairs on this board present us low-quality, mostly blurred shots made through mirrors or holding the camera at arm's length from their faces...
Are digital cameras with a self-timer function that much more expensive in the States than they are in Europe? On my side of the Big Pond, even low-budget cameras (~ 50 euros) have a self-timer... and given proper exposure settings, they produce fairly good pictures even at dusk or inside buildings!
See you in Khyberspace!

I don't think you'd want to set your camera on slippery rocks near the Really Big Pond. Ker-Splash!

Hi Ken,
Oh how I remember the fabulous conditions that late afternoon after leaving the heart of the city, which was quite "HOT" that day!LOL.Just being by the coast felt way cooler but not cold.I believe we both got great shots at baker beach as I'm kinda critical of my own pics but several I liked.I do recall a tourist helped us out that day so we were able to get a shot of the two of us side by side.I agree the way the sun was shining made great lighting for pictures and covered up a lot of imperfections on both of us;)Here is one of the two of us thanks to our tourist friend.Cheers
Mark
Ken,
Your hair looks gorgeous regardless of conditions.
