Hey folks! I recently discovered a method of hair straightening, with natural oils. A woman here in Brazil sells an e-book on how to do it, I have not bought it, but researching a little bit on comments, I found out that it consists of combinations of coconut oil (homemade) plus other stuff like rosemary oil, and saturaing the hair (and maybe scalp) with the mix ,with those brushes found in colorings and these kind of product. There are recipes for male hair, afro hair and normal female hair, but anyway, I got curious and wondering if:
1- It would work. Some people say that coconut oil, on the long run, leaves the strands straighter.
2- If it's safe. She announces that the mix of oils is actually nourishing for the hair, and makes hair grow a lot. But saturating the hair with oils couldn't clog the pores on the scalp and cause further trouble, such as MPB?
3- How effective it is. Would it take many applications to make it look really straight, and does it look natural, or like hair that is heat straightened a lot, with those static ends?
4- It really is miraculous as it sounds. Come on, dead straight hair, fully nourished, shiny and that grows very fast? No downsides? I don't know, sounds way too good.
5- It is reversible. I love my curls, but sometimes I think about how it would look straight. Changing looks is fine, but getting stuck with one that can't be reversed is tough.
I found it quite interesting and wanted to share it with you people, it is said that is a method commonly used by latin women, and of course, it looks logical that is so good, being natural and powerful, you can't go wrong with it lol.
Give us your two cents guys, maybe it is really effective indeed, and a nice thing for us who ocasionally would like to change our looks and nourish the manes. And about the coconut oil, if anyone uses it for a long time, does it really straights hair after some while?
Dear hug to everyone.
Thank you for the interesting article. My hair is very curly around the back hidden underneath the more wavy hair. It is prone to tangles a lot. I gave up straightening hair over 2 years ago because long term use of chemicals aren't good for healthy hair and may try out this coconut oil. Thanks again for the tip.
cheers, duncan
