So, yes, I cut my hair. It's the result of 2 months of long and hard thinking, and a lot of changes in my life. I'm really happy with my choice, and cutting it was actually the best for the own hair's sake. I stopped using industrialized shampoo, and my hair was all knotty, tangled and damaged. I'm now going to work all morning and afternoon, and going to college at night. I just couldn't afford the time my untangling sessions were taking lately (something about 3 hours before each wash). I'm not thinking of it as a haircut, bus as a major trim, as I'm not going back to the length it has (it reached my chest), but definitely not keeping it short. Being a longhair changed my way of thinking, and the experienced i had in that period were amazing. I can't be a longhair for life, neither a short haired guy, I found out that refreshing my look every now and then it's quite pleasant to me, despite what others may think. So no more updates from me for a while, but maybe... soon enough?
Thanks to the board for the amazing support and advice. I'm going to keep lurking and posting when I find time, as at heart, I'm still a longhair!
I'll spare you all of the pictures, instead stay with a Ewan McGregor one, with a hairstyle that is my goal now, and a smile that I keep on my face as I happily enjoy life.
A dear hug to you all, and keep true to yourselves!
Hi AndyBeta, we'll miss you! Your posts and comments have been much appreciated. It's good to know you are happy with your "new" image. The very best of luck for the future, and hopefully, you'll check in from timr to time. Best wishes, Ian
Hey Andy,
You know I really don't like to see another longhair throw in the towel but I kind of understand your explanation.Still you have to wonder then how women with longhair manage to get through their days without feeling the need to cut it shorter. We all get busy but one still needs to set aside time to take care of their personal grooming.Anyway you have provided pleasant contributions here and I also will miss your input and updates.Wishing you success in all future endeavors my friend.

My mother used to say to me (in the early 1970s) that women could have long hair and men couldn't because "women know how to take care of long hair." Like it's a genetically-linked skill that couldn't possibly be learned. Some people get the advanced math gene; some people get the shampoo gene.
Well that's a new one as I've never heard that argument before.Fortunately I don't buy it so nice try!LOL.Maybe we should start at thread on the most bogus reasons given as to why men can't have long hair;)Cheers

Your hair looks great at the current length, I don't think you need real long hair to be a longhair. I do like the length on you very much. Tom(Hairboy)
Hi there Andy Beta,
Glad to hear that you thoroughly thought things through before doing any cutting, and I'm also happy to hear that your new goal is to grow back at least a little bit of length -- there are so many different awesome hairstyles of what I call, "medium-length", that it's a shame that more guys don't consider that (especially in comparison to guys who for some reason decide to go back to the opposite short extreme of buzzing EVERYthing off)!!
The most important thing in life about one's own hair is that you feel complete freedom in doing with it whatever you desire. Pleasing your parents, your friends, your school, your co-workers, etc., should never have to be the principle consideration in the equation -- although unfortunately in Western Society, historically has been pressured into being a part of the picture.
In any case...
I support your decision 100%, and hope that you have fun exploring many different lengths & styles throughout your lifetime, and have a total blast doing so!!!
