Hi everyone! My name is Zach Hudgins and I have been viewing this forum off on and since I decided to grow my hair out. So far I have really loved it and am really shocked on how much it has changed me as a person :)I have always had short hair..and even though I love having a clean cut I thought it would be worth it to grow it out at least once in my life :) I started back in March with a standard short haircut and am now roughly about 5 inches. My ideal length is to get long enough for a ponytail and around shoulder length. Well thats about all..I'll be posting updates and any questions I might have! Nice to meet everyone!

You have a great-looking head of hair to work with, and look like you're coming along just fine so-far!!
The way I look at it is this: better to try out long hair when you're still young, because so many men either experience hair loss due to MPB and/or at least some hair-thinning as they get older, plus also it's nice to see long hair when there is still some natural color of youth still remaining (unlike mine, for example, which is very much turning all white nowadays - LOL).... Even if you end up eventually deciding to go back to short hair, you will always have the longhair experience under your belt -- as well as of course, the joy of looking back at pictures!
In any case, I hope you enjoy the hair-farming journey! I have to confess that I haven't yet been bored over being a longhair myself -- and it sounds like you're pretty happy so-far with becoming one, too!!

Hi Zach, nice to meet you too. My ideal was just shoulder length too, and finally being able to pull off a pony tail, but after I reached that point last autumn, I let it grow out some more and found that it kept looking better and better, being weighed down some more. So maybe your views of your ideal length will shift too :-)
