Hi guys. - Has anyone ever wound up their car window & gone 'OUCH'!!! - when they got out !??! ...
... or 'chomp, chomp, chomp' into a burger & gone - 'ouch'
... or walked through bamboo curtains & got snagged...
... or walked through their garden & got snagged in a branch ...
... taken off their glasses = 'TWANG':(with reverb) = there goes another one ... moral to the story = long hair is hazardous !!! ... hehe :O) Cheers everyone !!!
No to them all, you must be careless.
Lighten up man, I think CEM is just trying to share some light hearted humor , no reason to call him careless :)
Anyway, I have met with some unfortunate incidents regarding my hair myself CEM. I have set my hair on fire 3 times over the last year whilst having a cigarette, something I have avoided since haha. Just my contribution :)
Kind Regards, James
What do you know, another MLHH member who has lambs!!!
AWWWwwwww!!!
long hair + lambs = great mental picture :-D
A perfectly reasonable answer to the question this newcomer has asked.
I almost had that happen in the 70s. I was lighting a gas stove
and it singed my eybrows. It missed my hair for the most part.
But yeah i've had my hair get caught in the door/window/etc.
sometimes.
Even with it tied in a pony tail or braided it still happens.
You just need to be careful.
I recently had to start wearing reading glasses and had the same problem - but the problem was more with the style of eyeglass frame. Get glasses with a solid smooth surface for the part that rest on the side of the head and over the ears and you will not be likely to snag your hair when removing them.
I can certainly relate to eating a "hair sandwich". :P My hair has gotten long enough to *usually* stay behind my ears but on occasion I've bit into something only to find myself chomping on my hair. LOL

Little kids around a year old or less love to grab handfuls of it and pull HARD!

I've swollowed 5-6inches of my own hair while eating.
The worst part was pulling it back out!!!
These things happen, but you get used to it, and some of them you can avoid.
For example, I never wind up the car window all the way in one go. Wind it up most of the way and pause so the slipstream subsides, and then wind it up the rest of the way. Works every time.
I don't generally tie my hair back unless dealing with power tools, and then it is essential to do that every time. I also tie it back to work on the car, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's always necessary. I haven't yet managed to set my hair on fire when lighting the woodstove or the barbecue, although I suppose it must be possible, and I'm a non-smoker, so that isn't an issue.
As for eating, I have sometimes had to pull a long length of my hair back out of my mouth from who knows where, and it's not particularly pleasant, but I don't think it's life-threatening.
The other examples are just minor annoyances.
Yup,yup I can certainly raise my hand being guilty of some of those longhair hazards.Definately got hair in my mouth while eating so generally I try and have it tied back for safety. Also walking amongst the brush with your hair down is an almost garanteed grab. And heavens to Betsy be careful removing those shades as I hate seeing stands of hair stuck in the frames!

Power windows are your friend!
I have more problems with seatbelts. I have to get in, buckle up, and then fix my hair. And unbuckling too; don't need it grabbing a wad of hair when it retracts.
Some people have had trouble with doorknobs. Mine isn't long enough for that (yet), but more than once I've pushed on a door only to find I'm pulling some hair along with.
I'm doing that all the time - not much with burgers since I seldom eat them but with nearly every other food. Totally my own fault - I insist on wearing my hair loose. Even if I tuck it behind my ears it's always falling free if I bend forward.
Worst thing is when a hair gets stuck between my teeth. Now that really is disgusting!

I've snagged my hair on subway ads, car doors, never burnt my hair thank god.
I know, I found out the hard way when picking my ear with my pinky. The result I leave to the readers imagination.
Yeah, it can sometimes get in my mouth when I'm eating if I'm not careful.
And I never ever tie it back - i don't like that look on me.
I've had it catch in my glasses - and if I'm not careful it is a bit embarrasing if the glasses get so caught I drop them and there they are dangling tangled in my locks - lol !!
Gotta be careful around candles too !!
Yes - be ever aware of "mane bane" lurking around every corner!
I like the types of eye-glasses that have smooth temples and thus don't snag.

I rarely get my hair caught on things. i sit on it a lot. It is over 3 feet long, so I keep about 10 hair bands on it to prevent getting it accidentally snagged on things. I have gotten it caught on the door knobs in my house. That usually only happens when it is loose for drying it.

The dangers of long hair suddenly came home to me this evening. I never ever tie my hair back (like some others on here, I hate that look on me) but that vain habit could cost me my life one day.
I was crossing the road at night and failed to see a car because my long hair hinders my peripheral vision. Fortunately, the driver saw me and slowed down. But it was kinda scary for a moment!
So yup, long hair can definitely be hazardous! :)

Definitely so- my hair is fine as a baby's so I almost always have to tie it back outdoors to see where I'm going.
Let's be careful out there!
Yup, I guess I should tie my hair back too, Andy. But of course most women don't and having long hair myself now makes me realise that they are vulnerable when crossing roads. I'll bear that in mind when I'm driving in future.

It just means you have to turn your head further.
Your hair looks great I do like the hair worn long and loose, your hair is beautiful. Tom(Hairboy)
