Hey guys, some of you may remember me, for others it will be a first meet. I am Brian. I cant really tell you how long I have been growing my hair since this(my second try) I decided to not keep track. Just letting it grow. LoL I am having an issue and looking for advice. I wash and condition my hair every 2-3 days depending on how sweaty I get on the job. I am noticing that on wash nights and the day after my hair seems frizzy I guess u could say at the ends and especially in the back. I have been to a salon 2 ask bout split ends and they say I have very healthy hair for a man and zero split ends. What can I do to solve this? I bought some jojoba oil, but dont know if this will help, or even how much to use as I dont want it to look greasy right after a wash. Sorry for the bad quality of pic, but its off a phone. If you look close around my neck you can see the frizz. Any advice would be great!!!! Thanks, Brian
Don't wash all of the conditioner out, use a less harsh shampoo, don't use shampoo at all (just conditioner, I do this works pretty well), jojoba as you stated or a leave in conditioner are all the suggestions I can think of. Find what works for you
" very healthy hair for a man"
I can't when people use this prase or anything related. I woulda followed it up with "really? wow you're pretty smart for a woman"
Yeah, I kinda thought that myself. I really wanted 2 ask if mens hair had a different component to it that made it opposite of womens. Hahahaha.
I do think my shampoo is a problem. I have to use a dry scalp shampoo or my scalp gets really itchy. It probably is way to harsh. I love the way it looks the second and third day after a wash. but day one is ugh!!!!
Brian:
Having fine textured hair, I share the same problems with you.
When I must use shampoo, I try to follow with a deep conditioning.....I use olive oil.....after shampooing, rub in some olive oil and leave it in for at least a few minutes (longer if possible), then rinse it out with a standard conditioner.....works pretty well for me.
Jojoba is also great as an anti-frizz grooming aid......use very sparingly.
Good Luck and thanks for sharing the difficulty.....that is what this forum is all about.

Hmmm, olive oil between shampoo and conditioner, you say? I'm intrigued and will definitely give that a try! Thanks for the tip, WT

I'm going to second what Jarvis said, try using a less harsh shampoo and use it less often opting instead to just rinse with conditioner on days between shampoos. My hair used to be dry on the ends like yours until I started shampooing less frequently.
Another thing I'm currently trying after shampooing (which seems to help) is "LeKair Cholesterol Plus Strengthening and Conditioning Cream (after shampoo formula)" available at Walmart and other stores in the "Ethnic" hair section. It has Cholesterol, Jojoba Oil, Aloe Vera and Collagen Protein all of which help make your hair less dry and frizzy.
Finally after each rinsing I'm trying out using a bit of "Garnier Fructis Anti-Frizz Serum" on the ends of my hair. Taken all together my hair has gone from frizzy and straw like to soft and silky.
As always your results may vary, but try the condition only rinses first and see if that helps. If your hair is still frizzy then try the other products I've mentioned or something similar.

im having the same problem with my hair, i wonder though. how do i leave some conditioner in without leaving weird gloopy or slimy texture on my head? i wil try just conditioner. and perhaps olive oil, never used oil or anything like that before.
Brian,
Just use a few pumps of this after your next shower after towel-drying your hair. Your troubles will be over, man:
Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Anti-Frizz Serum
It's relatively cheap, sold everywhere (WalMart, as a matter of fact) and you're gonna love the results.
Hey Brian, good to see you back dude! The hair is looking great brother, and glad you are back on here! :)
Really not giving advice, but just to tell you, your hair looks great, nice length and your beard looks great as well. Take care Brian.

I had the same issue. Decided that the "water wash" was working best for me. Every three or four days I give my head a good scrubbing with water only. Keeps the hair oils intact and frizz to a minimum. I was afraid it would smell but my wife, who would not hesitate to let me know otherwise, says it doesn't. I am now washing with shampoo/conditioner every 2-3 weeks, mostly because there's still the lingering fear I'm "dirty" without doing it.
I remember you, Brian -- welcome back to MLHH!
Great pic and as far as my advise goes...
Just try applying a very small amount of pure olive oil on your hair ends (the dry-looking frizzy portion only), gently massaging it and finger-combing it in.
I usually do this ritual shortly after coming out of the shower on shampoo days, applying only a tiny amount (somewhere between the size of a pea and the size of a small coin) while my hair is still damp. Combing gently through it after massaging it with your fingers is also what I do at the very end, sometimes even twisting and sort of "coiling" the hair to try to evenly distribute the oil into the lower half of my mane.
As long as you don't put in too much oil, it will dry very nicely and feel very soft once fully dry -- not greasy or gross-looking, but definitely helps take care of that dry frizzy, fly-away kind of problem...
Now that I've gotten used to this ritual, I can't live without it!
Hope my comments have helped.
