Well I can't avoid it as we are a month and a half into 2012 and in a few short months I reach a milestone in my life.Well really it doesn't bother me but in fact in May of this year I will turn the big Five Ohhhhh!LOL.Even though I know its only a number I have to realize that more than half my life is over. That is unless I reach the even bigger One Oh Oh!Anyway I don't care but here is what 50 years of living could bring to you.I hope the younger guys don't get too scared;)Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.Cheers

Mark, You are correct, it is ONLY a number. You still have much to do. I am 10 years your senior and I still feel (And act) like I am decades younger. Except in the morning. that's when I can look every minute of my existance. A great pic, Mark. I like the mischievous smile and stance. It appears you are also sportin' the ol "Daisy Dukes" as well.
Yes I'm with you on feeling like a much younger man than I am:)I will never
fall into that trap where when you reach a certain age you have to play the part.
You know, wear your hair a certain way, dress a certain way, join the AARP!Yea right!lol. Oh and I can imagine looking at me I'd fit right into that country club lifestyle. I can only imagine the stares I would draw;) He He.Yes, I bet they'd love
my shorts:)Cheers

You're still young. I on the other hand turned 57 this past summer.
Now that you've turned 50 hopefully you'll have many more yesrs
to life as a long hair.
I'm not really that concerned about the impending milestone as many of you here are proof positive that age doesn't matter:)Trust me even after the big day my hair will be sticking with me.Cheers

You look great, Mark. I turned 59 today at 9:30 PM.
Scott
Hi Scott, and again HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you my friend:)Thanks for the compliment as I'll try and remember that when my B day arrives;)Cheers
Mârk
A most wonderful Happy Birthday to you Scott!
- Oren
Hi Mark, and a great picture with colour looking good, but then again, you are a mere youngster! Oh, and by the way, happy birthday to Scott - another whippersnapper! Best wishes, Ian
Hi Ian,
You certainly are a fantastic inspiration to any guy who is advancing in age and still wants long hair:)Just based on your latest update showing your hair growth over the last year who wouldn't be inspired by that.Your mane is envious to me and many others I'd imagine. Thanks for your support here at mlhh as you are one cool dude;)Cheers
Mârk
Mark you look great, really like the photo nice pose like the hair down in your face some.
Tom(Hairboy)
Hi Tom,
Thank you for your comments as it's much appreciated:)Not being the most photogenic person in the world I thought this pic came out rather well.Cheers

Rock on Mark! You embody a youthful spirit that will never age. Defying convention and societal pressure keeps one young and there's no better external sign of that than keeping one's hair long.
The henna continues to look great!
Hi Jason,
Thanks much for your reply.I do take pride in not caring what the outside world thinks of how I present myself.Thankfully no one has ever gotten up the nerve to criticize me so I take it they are afraid I might bite or something. However at my age they'll never change me.Certainly I'm enjoying the ride and I'm happy to take it with guys like yourself here at mlhh:)Cheers my friend and again congratulations on your new son:)
Mârk
Mark you look great! Middle age couldn't look better! I'm approaching the big SIX OH(NO)this coming fall. Age is relative. You are as young as you feel and that attitude makes you look younger in my view! Bet you're hoping some younger guys might reply to your message. lol --- Cheers back at ya Hairball!
peace, jonalbear
Hi JB,
Thanks for your awesome reply:)You put this whole age thing in perfect prospective as I am with you 100% on what you stated.Yes, I would love to read what the younger guy have to say so hopefully some will chime in.As I write this our friend Andy Beta did:)Oh,your included picture looks outstanding:)Time may march on but it can treat us kindly thank you;)Cheers my friend.

There is still life ahead! I turned 60 last summer...
And I must say you look GREAT!!!!!!At least now I have confidence in another 10 years I might still have it:)I really love the age diversity of this board as its interesting to learn the perspectives from all the generations.I always hope my contributions here helps someone somewhere as that makes it all worth it to me.Cheers
Mârk
Thanks, Mark. I think you have at least another 10 good years! I did give up some length a couple of years ago when I felt I could no longer have really long hair that looked good. So, I went somewhat shorter with some style. I never want to go to "normal"! ;-}
I agree it is great that we older ones can inspire the youth and they inspire us back!
I know that's the problem some guys face as they age with the longest length not looking as stellar anymore.I haven't had my hair trimmed since the summer of 2005 and with that said it seems my terminal length has arrived.I know my hair is still growing based on my use of henna which is verified by my new growth showing its natural color near the scalp.I just figure with breakage and all my length has stabilized.Cheers

First of all, thank you for sharing another outstanding and inspirational update photo. Your dedication to keeping not only your hair, but your entire body healthy is worthy of recognition and congratulations. For a man of nearly 50 calendar years, I wouldn't hesitate to say that you are probably more youthful than most guys half your age, in mind, body, and spirit.
I also wanted to take a moment to just thank you for being so... you. In the years since I first joined the MLHH, you have certainly remained one of the very pillars of this community. Your kindness, patience, and encouragement have not gone unnoticed, and I have no doubt that there are happily long-haired men in the world who would otherwise still be living lives of dissatisfaction and conformity, were it not for the role you play in this community. You're a good guy, Mark, and it's appreciated :)

Val,I'm utterly almost speechless after reading your comments on me and my role here at mlhh.Really I never thought of myself as any sort of role model but do take pride in the fact I can share insight here to guys with a common goal.As you know I've been at this longhair thing for a loooooong time and feel I've learned something along the way.To think when I first decided to grow out my hair there was no mlhh, let alone internet,to seek support from.It all came from within as I knew what I wanted and went for it.To this day I wonder how my hair survived the decades I've had it long.I feel very fortunate, believe me, as my hair has been a big part of my life.Thank you for taking notice as it means a lot to me my friend:)Cheers

Hi Mark,
What an awesome photo, and cheers to you for always remaining young at heart, and congratulations on the upcoming "five oh"! I will be turning 59 in August, and will be reaching the big "six oh" in a year and a half, my, how time flies! Actually, I feel pretty good these days, must be a consequence of being happily retired.
Remember, we are only as old as we feel!
Cheers again,
David
David, it's been such a pleasure getting to know you through mlhh and also I'll always remember our meetup for dinner:)The hyperboard has been really a fantastic experience for me and I'm sure for others as well.I find it so cool that guys of all ages can come together here to support one another. Definately one of the reasons I've enjoyed being here:)You look great for your age and I'm sure retirement helps;)I'll look forward to the day when I can hang it up too in the rat race.Cheers my friend.

Looking great Mark! It just gets better with time.
- Oren
I'll make sure I remember that as the years continue to click by:)Words of wisdom from another longhaired and longbearded veteran.Cheers my friend.

Dear Mark, what a fabulous post. I had to congratulate you on your state of mind and spirit. A lot of people of my age (I'm 17 lol) doesn't have that presence of spirit. Now I'm only a longhair at heart, but what wonders long hair did to me. I assume it is a experience that can change lives if one knows how to enjoy it well. Clearly, it done wonders to you! Enjoy your lovely mane and life, my friend. Thanks for making this board an even better place.
Dear hug to you!
Andy, thank you so much for such thoughtful comments from a guy very young in this world. To think I may have made an impression on you or anyone else makes it all worth it.You have your whole life ahead of you and I would say live it for you and not for someone else to dictate.I know it's tough at your age but I managed and you can too:)Even though you made a decision to cut your hair you are still the same kindhearted longhair who graced this board when you first joined the party. Please do stick around and chime in at any time.Maybe someday you'll get the urge again:)A big hug my friend.

Hey Mark
I never would have guessed you have that many years under your belt....lookin' trim and fit my friend.
Take it from this (real) oldster, the best is yet to come !! We longhairs tend to think young and act accordingly.
Thanks for sharing that great photo.....

Hi Walter,
I do feel fortunate that the years,so far, have treated me kindly in both mind and body.Hopefully the years ahead will be more of the same:)You look great too Walter and I admire your level of energy.Your undertaking overseas the last year+ amazes me.I don't think I would've be up to that so kudos you for high energy!Your new job back home sounds like much fun as that would be more my speed once I retire;)Cheers my friend.

Hi Mark,
The big 5-0, huh? Well, I guess that's some inspiration for us "younger guys" to drive towards, whether we like it or not :D hahah! A BIG happy birthday and many more - onto 100 with a full head of hair ^_~ !
Sincerely,
yoshiki
Hi yoshiki,
Thank you for the kind words as I'm not 50 yet but will be there in a few months.I don't think the sky will fall when that day arrives as it will be just like any other for me.Sounds like you have a ways to go to reach 50 so do savor your younger years and make them as healthy as possible my friend:)Cheers
Mârk
The color and hair both looking awesome, Mark! :) I think the henna looks great on ya sir!
Yikes,I guess you know you are getting old when the younger guys refer to you as "sir"!LOL.Thankfully I don't feel my age and I hope it stays that way;)BTW, congrats on your recent weight loss my friend.Trust me you will benefit greatly from that in the years ahead. Thanks for your comments Mark:)Cheers
Mârk
hi mark, your a great example of how a combination of attitude, keeping fit and trim, long hair and above all attitude can keep a person young looking! the henna experiment has definately paid off! cheers, duncan
Hey Duncan,
I agree keeping healthy and maintaining a young attitude helps you later in life.Longhair normally is something that younger people would sport while when older it gets shorter but I in no way am going to conform with what a 50 year old male is supposed to look like. It's refreshing to see the number of older guys here keeping their hair long:)Yippie!!!!
