I was wondering if some of you guys ever did a blunt cut. If so, at what length? I'm at Shoulder+ length and I'm guessing by the time I reach nipple length my overall shape will turn into a v-shape. I might wait until I reach belt length though and see if I ever want to do this. I just wanted to get a feel of all of your experiences.
By blunt cut, do you mean all one length? This is how I prefer my hair to be and early on in the growing process I cut the back to let the top catch up as shown in this photo from 2006.
Yes, one straight line across. Nice even look you have. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Rowie,
To blunt cut or not to blunt cut? I having been growing my hair for 4 years and haven't had it back to a uniform length for several reasons. I want to reach my goal as quickly as possible and also when a hair is in layers and not one length the ends do not look as jaggered. If the hair is cut to one length then some individual hairs grow faster and would make the hemline look uneven. I personally think that you should allow your hair to grow to the your goal length first and then once reached then make the decision to keep it a uniform length or not. Another influence in deciding whether to do so or not is how thick or thin your body of hair is. Some hair types do look better in layer particularly very thick hair whereas thinner manes of hair the blunt cut would sharpen the length better. I notice you mention that your thinking of letting your hair grow to the waist-belt length area before trimmning to one length which is what i intend to do too if it reaches that far. cheers, duncan
Thanks for your advice. As of right now I do want to grow to waist. I have thick hair, so it might be a lot trickier for me. IThe reason why I brought this up is because my oldest sister reached calf length and it ended up looking like it was thinning out (I think the proper term for women would be fairy tail ends). I know everyone is different, but I think I'll take your advice and wait until I reach my first goal, which is waist. Cheers.
Definately! I prefer it trimmed that way, whether its shoulder length, mid-back length, waist-length or longer. Straight across. There was a post on here a few weeks ago, to the effect of "it shows I really do want my hair this long, rather than just avoiding haircuts for a really long time".
My mom calls it my "9-year-old-girl's haircut", but she's been good enough to trim it for me a couple times, bless her.
Ditto! I like the idea of having long hair, but I also like to look kempt. My oldest sister has really long hair and I do not like the look of uneven ends, it does look good on her though.
Personally I have layers, but I think blunt cuts can look really nice.
