Hi guys! What are you guys up to? I'm just sort of procrastinating from writing my thesis. ughhhh! So I'm doing my laundry and thought it would be fun to come up with a hairstyle for when I'm doing chores at home. For demonstration I used my sister's colored pony ties to indicate where I placed the bands.I could see the black bands looking good on lighter hair. This will work for shoulder+ and beyond lengths. I guess if you have longer hair you can continue to add more pony ties and sectioning (but I like to try to keep it simple to just three ties above the neck).
I think this look is kind of cool because it gives an instant French braid like look because of the sectioning of hair, and adding a pony tie to each section, instead of braiding it. I'm not like my sister who can French braid her own hair. I like this style because it's not the plain usual pony tail. Sorry if the pic is kind of blurry. I find it challenging to take a back shot of my head using only my iphone. I don't know what this style is called, but I'll call it "Tie, tie, tie, that pony!" hehehe I hope you guys are enjoying your day!
cheers,
rowie
Hi rowie,
That's pretty cool! How do you do that??? I tried zooming in on the picture, but am having a hard time trying to figure it out because it all looks so layered. Does your hair all go downwards like I assume :) ?
Great to see your photo :D !
Sincerely,
yoshiki
It looks like he made a half-tail, and then used two more bands to tie off the rest of the hair.
Thanks for the kind comments!
1)To do this hairstyle start at the very top of your head and gather all of your hairs only on the top of your head and secure it with a pony tie.
2) Grab all the hairs around the crown of your head including both sides of your ears and add them to the section where you last tied off your hair. (it's like French braiding only you are adding section of your hair to each existing pony tail and then securing it with a pony tie.)
3) Grab the remaining section of hair above your neck area and secure it with a pony tie.
repeat until you've reached all the end of your pony.
For further experimentation, you can add more sections with pony ties, creating a "French Braiding" effect.
I hope this helps!
Cheers!

Looks great on you!
Welcome aboard.

Thanks Oren! It's a pleasure to start seeing you guys.

You have some thick hair Rowie. That is the first time I have seen that kind of hair style. Very creative, and much easier to do than a French braid. I am trying to guess how long your hair is. Mid back is my guess. (Mine reaches my knees and is not as thick as yours.) Looking good.
Scott
Hi Scott! Thanks for your kind remarks. I am still in the early phases of my long hair journy. I think I am only at Shoulder + length (3 inchest away from Armpit length). This style probably gives the illusion that my hair is thick. In actuality my hair is just coarse like a horse.hehehehe
You definitely have my dream length. Wish I could see a shot of your beautiful locks. I hope to get to know you more, and I am looking forward to hearing from you in this site. Are you at terminal already? Do you have a goal length?
cheers,

Here is a photo of my mane loose without hair elastics. The photo is 5 or 6 years old, but my hair is just as long today as it was then.
If I could choose a perfect length, I would have my hair at mid calf length, halfway between knees and ankles. It reaches my knees and probably won't get any longer.
Scott
Wow, thanks Scott. You have amazing hair! Now there is a goal for me. Have you tried regular scalp massages? My oldest sister also had her knee length hair stop growing, and then three years later it started growing again simpley because she started to massage her scalp before going to bed. She reached calf length but she cut it to waist after giving birth to her first child. I guess for some people there will be a 3-7 year stall.

I don't know if scalp massage would work for me. I am 59 years old and very fortunate to have the length that I currently enjoy.
Hey Scott! You are still young in my mind, and the number is well, only a number. You look very healthy, and you are very fortunate to grow up to knee length hair, which not so many men can grow that long. So I commend you! Lucky you! I only suggested scalp massage because that is what worked for my sister, and I know everyone is different. So i appologize if I made a suggestion that might of ticked you off.
PEACE AND LOVE

I am not angry.
My scalp probably already gets massage from combing. After detangling, the comb teeth rub against my scalp with each stroke. It stimulates, and can relieve itching as well. To me, it seems the same as massage.
How is massage different? Do you use your fingers instead of the comb? I am open to anything new to add more length.
Scott
Oh I see your beautiful locks around your neck! Wow I had to zoom in on your avatar! Love the colors of hair bands on your hair.

It is a full rainbow. Hair elastics in a full rainbow of colors are very hard to find. I also like my shirts that way.
Scott
Hi rowie,
Hey, I love the way you did your hair with just run of the mill pony ties! It's cool how you sectioned off your hair with each tie.I really like that as I'm gonna try that too and hope it comes out as nice.Maybe your thesis sound be on that;)Thanks for the idea, my friend, as I better save this pic so I can remember what it looks like.Cheers
