Hey guys i looked for the answer to my question everywhere. well what do i do with the hair right above the ears. You can see in the pictures that its longer then the rest of my hair. should i trim it or keep it. Or cut that all off together?
the pictures dont do it justice. the side burn like hair is almost down to my jaw bone. i woke up and took those pictures so my hairs really greasy.
thanks everyone in advance. this is my first time posting on this site.
is your hair long enough to completely cover your ears? if so, that might help, unless you want the earings to show.
My hair on the sides do cover my ears fully. I would like the earings to show but thats more complacated so i havnt cut my hair. here is a really good example of two styles im going for both versions. yeah im a keanu reeves fan.
My stylist has suggested that any hair above the top of the ear should stay long and be placed behind the ear. Anything below that line should be trimmed to match your sideburns. I have found that to be a workable rule as to what stays or goes.

The few strands on the picture of your right side need to be cut off unless there is a lot more behind your ear.
Your left appears to be different and maybe cutting by half an inch to level all the hair over your ears would be best.
Oh so one picture is the side of my hair combied straight down. and the other picture is it combed back except for the part of hair that is noticable different. its not long enought to go behind my ear yet. But it goes down to my jaw.
here is two better picture of what im talking about

I've seen that before on a trendy cut when a stylist will give a hint of a sideburn where someone has none by leaving the hair in front of the ear longer. Since you're growing it long, that little patch of longer hair is going to look out of place, so cutting it back until it's even with the rest of your hair would be a wise choice.

I wear my hair tied back most of the time, so I trim the hair around my ears and the back of my neck. If I wore it loose, I'd just let it grow.
I had a youg friend with the same problem. He let it grow until side burns grew in--he called them Hang Burns.AJ
