I have had shoulder length hair for 5 years. I wear my hair down all the time. Being curly/ J-shaped, it stays in place. For work, I brush it back, and wear neat clothes. I would like to grow it down to the shoulder blades.
I shampoo and condition once a week, using a moisturizing shampoo, KMS Moisturizer Repair, Redken all soft, and DHS Zinc after outside work. With dry, frizzy hair, I use KMS Conditioner or LUSH American cream conditioner every third day. I also use CHI silk serum and Garnier Fructis Leave-In Conditioner Sleek/Shine for the ends of the hair.
I occasionally trim my hair, taking no more than one half inch off in few areas. Then see for a week how it looks. Every six months, my wifes hair stylist lightly trims my hair to rebalance it. She always does a much better maintenance trim than I can alone.

Hi Don, you have awesome hair. Great surfer-style look that many envy, but few can pull off.
I reckon the shoulder length looks even better than the chin length, so who knows what it will look like at shoulder-blade length (or nipple length, cause shoulder-blades are kind of broad)
Also, lucky you that you only have to wash it once a week. I have to wash 2 to 3 times a week, because it's so straight and straight hair looks greasy a lot faster than curly hair.

Hi Mick,
Thanks for the nice comment. California has dry weather making my curly hair tangle up if I shampoo more frequently, to let the natural oils out. When visiting my wifes family in northern Italy, I shampoo/ condition every 3 days with the more humid weather in Europe, especially in summer. Try the Caribbean Sea area of Mexicos Yucatan peninsula, or Belize, in June. Then I had to shampoo every day in that humidity with my scalp sweating so much in the heat. The DHS Zinc shampoo is a good one to clean out the scalp if dandruff is an issue

Hi Don
Your shoulder length long hair looks terrific! I am seeing more and more and MORE of that length suddenly appearing out of the blue where I live in Oregon. I "trendy style" on its way perhaps? Thank you for sharing all of those photos. Again, great looking long hair.

Hi Justin,
When I was in school in downtown Seattle, long hair, shoulder and longer, was here and there, especially at the artisan markets on closed off streets to traffic. Also at Pike Market in downtown on week-ends. I have seen long hair more common in northern California, especially just south of the border in Arcata, CA and then the northern California coast where I live now, where long hair can form a majority.
