Hi everyone, just checking in as I do to post my monthly update, I've been having increasing trouble as of late with my hair becoming dry, due to the unexpected heat wave here in the UK. The pictures make my hair appear shorter than previous months as well, due to my new hooded jacket that came in the post this morning! I think it's awesome so far, really thick, fleese-lined, and has a poacher's pocket too :D One of the incentives that got me to purchase the jacket in the first place was that it's Fair-trade, and hand knitted in Nepal.
Well, as usual, two pictures, one in a ponytail and one with it all loose, I'll be adding this update to my progress pictures over on my Hair website as well, check it out people! :)
Wishing everyone the best, James

You have amazing thick hair, and nice color! Your jacket is cool too, looks like something that would be in my own wardrobe!

Hi James K.,
As usual your hair looks fantastic but sorry to hear about the dryness problem.Might want to add some beneficial oils to counteract that but be sure not to add too much making your hair greasy looking.
As for the jacket I would think it arrived a bit too late to help you through the winter months.Being you said it's already hot that's the last thing you need to wear;)Still, looks cool on you and love the Charlie Brown jagged line near the bottom which was a trademark design on his shirts:)Cheers

Hi James,
I love the funky jacket -- and of course I think your hair is coming along nicely, too!!
Re. the dryness issue:
I swear by beneficial oils, it has made all the difference in the world as far as my own experience is concerned. By applying even just a very small amount into my hair ends, then massaging, twisting / twirling, and then finger-combing the natural oil throughout the lower portions my hair, results in a much softer, fuller-feeling, and less dry & scratchy feeling mane -- not to also mention when I do this regularly, it has cut down on the amount of split ends I tend to get.
The oils I have used in my hair and like are as follows: Kukui nut oil, Almond oil, Jojoba oil, coconut oil, and Olive oil. There might be a few others that are good for the hair; but these seem to be the most "tried & true" and time-tested / well-known. Other than that, which ever oil you end up liking best is just an issue of personal preference.
Make sure that you purchase only 100% pure & natural oils, or if they do have other ingredients (like fragrance) in them that the label mentions that it's meant for applying to the hair. Olive oil sold in a grocery store, for example, is always pure because meant for eating, usually reasonably priced, and easy to find -- and if it's good enough to cook with, it's good enough for your hair!
My favorite time to apply any of these oils is usually right after my shampooing ritual days, shortly after conditioning and rinsing with a lot of cool water at the end, followed by wrapping my mane in a large towel to absorb the majority of the moisture. While your hair is still damp makes it easier to apply the oil, before your mane fully air-dries. Just make sure to only use a SMALL amount -- and only apply it to the hair ends and/or just the lower portion of your mane (I never apply any of this oil onto my scalp, for example -- no need in my case, as my scalp always produces plenty of its own natural sebum).
... I hope you find the above info helpful to your dry hair problem!
