Well i took the plunge tonight and trimmed off about 6" - 8" to
even out the ends. i hated having to do it but he ends
were getting very uneven and looked like crap. I don't know if the ends are getting damaged, or if I just reached terminal length. So now the hair is at armpit length, i'm hoping that I can
grow it back to waist length and that i'm not at terminal length.
If feels really strange, this is the shortest it's ever been
and I absolutely hate it.
So how do I know if the ends from damage or from terminal length?
Quality over quantity! Do you have any pictures of this trim? I really can't comment that much, only the fact that your hair must have a nice blunt cut. In the end this should help with an even thicker hemline.
happy growing,
rowie
Here is a picture after the trimming of the 6"-8"
It looks great, your probably just not used to the shorter length. My ends get damaged more from life and sports than from growth. I have never grown my hair to terminal length, and I really don't have a desire. I believe my terminal length would be quite long. Waist length was the longest I ever grew my hair. I now find waist length to long for myself. I keep mine between mid and lower back.

Oh wow...........that looks great! Sorry I didn't see this earlier.

It looks great! I knew it would look much better than I thought. Your hair looks super healthy. Thanks for sharing this. Keep it up!
cheers,

I am most sure that you will be able.
I hear you on that one.
I don't think Terminal would have required you to have taken so much off. You will know this time when growing it back out. Just make sure and use tons of conditioner.

When I use conditioner should I wash all of it out? Or just
rinse it sparingly?
Should I be using Cocoanut Oil or Jojoba oil? I keep seeing
it mentioned on this board but if you read the reviews
there complaints about it being greasy, smelly, bad quality,
and bad for your skin.
[read the reviews for them on Amazon.]
Finally should I be using a wide tooth comb or bruah?
All these years i've used wide tooth combs, stayed away from
Brushes (i've been under the impression that brushes damage
the hair hence i've used wide tooth combs.)
You'd think where I have had long hair since 1964
i'd have solved all the issues with my hair. But no,
after all these years i'm sill having problems with
ends.
As i've mentioned previously i'm 57 years old, have lots
of grey hair,
Hi
Wow, just too much to try and answer. I once did an 8 part series on You Tube about long hair and how to care for it. Please see all 8 and most likely this will address most of your questions. My way is NOT the only way, but all I know is that it worked very well for me, lots of guys on this board and loads of emails I receive from guys that saw these (crazy) videos when 1st put on and are now enjoying the most magnificent long hair.
I think this may help you alot. Also PLEASE read the Thesis by Bill Choisser found by clicking on links right on the main page.
Good luck and don't worry, your hair should be fine. When I made these videos I was 59-60 years old!

hey buddy - you were very brave to cut so much off: ( I'm pretty sure I could not do it ) - but I understand your reasons ... having seen your 'after' shot = you have done a great job = it looks thick, full & still is quite long from behind ... so well done 'Brave-Heart' ... cheers CEM. :O)
