We should never allow anyone including a woman dictate to us how we should wear our hair.
guys, if a woman refuses to continue having a relationship with you unless you cut your hair short then tell her goodbye and let her know that you plan on finding a more suitable mate who will appreciate you for who you are and not try to change you!
if you cut your hair off for her, she may dump you later on at some point anyway and all that time it took to grow your hair will make you even feel far worse in the long run! it will lower your self-esteem for sure!
I've heard derogatory comments from others about guys with longer hair and when some older man of 60+ years happens to have long hair often you hear the same old ignorant comments such as "old hippie needs a haircut" or "he looks like a homeless man!"
I have nothing but the ultimate respect for older Men who choose to wear their hair longer in the face of harsh criticism from "society".
centuries ago such Men would have been considered Wise Men!!
the whole idea that short hair on Men looks more "professional" is ludicrous! Most women have longer hair in the workplace and nothing is ever said to them about being unprofessional.
I think one can look professional regardless of hair length and gender.
in the prevailing "clipper happy" society Men who refuse to accept what is the current "norm" and grow their hair are often
coerced by peer pressure, family members to conform to this idiotic notion that a clipper cut is more "professional" and this is a "Man's hairstyle" which is total b.s. and it's only through mass propaganda, ignorance, and stupidity that most continue to think this way.
As Men we need to become more assertive and stand our ground refusing to let others dictate how we should wear our hair. it is not their right to tell us how long we are allowed to wear it!
when your girlfriend/wife suggests that you need to get a more "professional" aka short hairstyle put her in her place!! do not cower to her suggestions or let her make demands that you change your appearance regardless of reasons!!
when more Men are willing to stand up for their God given rights to have longer hair than a society of REAL MEN will have prevailed once again instead of the current lame concept of what a Man is!!!
would it not be great to have a society of Samson`s instead of Pee Wee Herman`s?
THIS Pee Wee Herman?
Yeah, he went through a longhair phase.
Bill
I'm totally fine with men having long hair and beards, regardless of age. But it will take a long time for the majority of society to accept it. I'd have to say the majority of men and women do not view men with long hair and bears (or ANY facial hair) as professional. It seems to be a bit more accepted out west, but still, it seems like an uphill battle. And they seem to think we're being silly to keep it long "Oh, just cut your hair and shave your beard for this meeting, or interview..." etc. They obviously don't understand or care, or have considered how long it will take to grow back.
I know, it frustrates me too. I'm happy to have a part time job where they don't mind my long hair and beard, and also to work from home where people don't see me. It's hard trying to meet people in the business community with long hair and a beard, even if you're in a 3 piece suit. The 3 piece suit may be overkill, but in the opinion of many, it does not compensate for the long hair and beard. There seems to be no substitute for short hair and clean shaven, sadly...
