Question for you guys. My hair is now down to my shoulders, but the thing that really bothers me is the short hairs at the top of my neck (the bottom of my hairline in the back). They are only a couple of inches long and pretty curly. With all this growth, I'm starting to think that those hairs are never going to reach a respectable length to tie into a ponytail.
Because of this, when it is tied into a pony tail there is that obvious little "bush".
How do you guys deal with that? I saw a video of a long hair guy that just basically shaves that area (small area, not an undercut or anything). What's the downside to that? I'm seriously considering this.
Your thoughts are much appreciated.
Shave up to the hair line. It looks far better when you hair is in a tail, especially in more formal or wok situations and demonstrates that long hairs do take care of themselves.
I don't do it myself. There is a chance that you could cut to much. Also some of those hairs could be new growth.

I just let them grow. Eventually most of them did get long enough to stay in a tail, but even the ones that aren't are barely noticeable after a while
I get my other half to run the clippers over them every now and then to keep them tidy. I gave them about two years to see if they'd ever get long enough to tie back, but on me, they don't. I've seen other guys pin them up with Kirby grips, but I never had much luck with them.
