Well being it's almost the seven week mark since I last reapplied the henna it was time for a redo.Just washed out the henna two hours ago and being my hair air dried quickly I brushed it out and took a couple pics. Here are the results and I will add the pictures were taken in natural sunlight.Cheers

Here is pic #2 and will add that I hennaed my beard too in case you didn't notice;)Cheers

Hi Mark,
The hair salons can be a dread for cutting hair, but hair coloring at the salon avoids the mess this creates when doing this at home. My wife was recently in Bangkok, Thailand for a $15 haircut at a salon that included using a razor for more precise cuts. As a future reference, hair coloring was $85.00, much less than we know of here.
Don
Hi Don,
Don't worry as I don't spend a dime on salons!LOL.As a matter of fact I haven't had my hair cut professionally since August 2005.Even though I have to buy the henna I do all the coloring myself and frankly, it gets easier every time I do it.I know the routine and how to avoid making a horrible mess.I actually enjoy the process of applying and removing the henna.Kind of a relaxing way to spend half a day if that.Anyway thanks for your comments as they are much appreciated my friend.Cheers

Hi Mark,
Haven't really been active lately due to various reasons, just popped by and saw your new henna update, which looks fantastic! The second picture makes your hair appear thicker, I think the colour really suits you, even the beard got in on the action this time haha :P I'll be extremely happy to have such healthy looking hair when I get into my 50s, thanks as always for sharing a great inspirational update mate :)
(P.s. Cool shirt Mark, quite a lot of colour in one picture!)
Kind Regards, James
Hi James,I appreciate all your kind words my friend:)I'm sorry you haven't been active as I do miss you when not posting.I take you comments seriously from a guy with a mane as breathtaking as yours.I'm thankful to have what I have for a guy turning 50 next month.Yes, it won't be long now!Oh my, what am I gonna do!LOL.I hope it ain't all downhill from here forward.Yikes!Anyway I'll be at peace knowing guys like you will carry the torch as us older longhairs fade away......
Do take care of yourself:)Cheers
Mârk
Hi Mark
I'm sure your hair is getting thicker!....must be the Henna treatments...looking very good buddy and complimented by the great goetee!
Ps.....50 years old?.......you've got another 50 years the way you are going my friend i'm sure!
Scott
Hi Scott,
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement my friend:)I'm thankful that I still have all my hair as I near the big five, zero and that I'm still quite healthy.Hopefully it all holds together for the forseeable future.I truly feel longhair keeps a guy younger at heart:)Cheers
Mârk
That's a great shot Mark and shows off your mane well. The colour looks great, like a burst of sunshine to brighten our World!
Hi Ian and thanks for your comments:)It's funny how "RED" my hair looks immediately after a henna treatment then as the weeks go by the color sort of calms down.Usually by week three my beard looses most of the red color due to trimming and the gray starts showing again.Normally I wait until I redo my hair to do the beard as its just easier. Cheers
Mârk
Hi Mark,
Cheers to you on such a wonderful job with the henna, and both both your hair and beard look great!
Take care,
David
Hi David,
Now that I've done several henna treatments I find the process is quite easy.It just takes a few tries to get a routine down as I can fully apply the henna in 15 minutes. Then let it sit a few hours and wash it out then "PRESTO" flamin' red hair!LOL.Of course you can do henna and no go the red route if you choose.Cheers
Mârk
Your hair looks so thick and healthy in this shot, Mark. Awesome!
Damon

Hi Damon, thank you for your praise as I liked this pic too!I sort of consider this my "nuttidave" look;)LOL.Cheers my friend.
Mârk
Your hair looks gorgeous, Mark. I may try it on my beard but doing my mane would probably be too much work for me.
Scott
Hi Scott,
You should give it a try and do remember you don't have to go the red route like I did. Some of the guys who have done henna mixed it with other natural dyes to temper the red to a more brownish tint.I've found after doing around a half dozen retreatments since my initial one it gets easier and faster to apply it.Yesterday went very quickly with no hassle at all.I put the henna in at noon time and washed it out by 5pm.That included doing my hair and beard.Being my hair already has a base I could've washed it out sooner but I like to give it the most time as long as I'm not in a hurry.Anyway hope to see you next week.Cheers
Mark
Mark !!
You are rapidly approaching the esteemed "Viking Oren" image...giggle !!
Lookin' great, my Friend....Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Hi Walter,
Wow,am I in the same league as Oren?I'm very honored:)Still I don't think I can knock him off that perch!LOL.Cheers my friend...
Mârk
Walter and Mark
Oren is a true Celtic wizard with all that beautiful red hair!
peace, jonalbear
The God of Henna is looking great, and I am honored to have a manifestation of him in my likeness!
- Oren
Hi Mark,
I don't know which is more shocking to look at: your red Henna hair & beard, or that wild polka-dot shirt (unfortunately, I think your shirt out-screams your hair color - LOL)!!!!
I'm really looking forward to seeing you when you're visiting out here next week; but be forewarned that even in liberal-minded San Francisco, they arrest people who wear polka dot shirts, forcing them to do Polka dancing in front of the police (instead of the usual breath-a-lizer test or walking a strait line - ROFL)...
Your hair is lookin' great, as usual; but OMG, that shirt that shirt that shirt!!!
- Ken
Hi Ken,
Ha,ha,ha,your the first to make such a fuss about my shirt to that extent even though James K. commented too:)I thought it made a fun addition to my recently hennaed hair update. Now don't tell me your thinking of getting a shirt like that too now are you? ;)I'll wait until I see ya to tell you where I got it!LOL.Cheers my friend.
Mârk
Whoa!!! And I thought MY silver satin shirt was flamboyant! I bet people see you from twenty miles away with that red hair and that polka-dot T-shirt. You must light up half of the East Coast! :)
I love your self-confident attitude, Mark. That's totally cool!

Hi Mârk,
Awesome results! You have fabulous hair that you don't need a baseball cap to cover it up (like what you've said in your last post about some of your protective wear). At your length, it's all about showing off all the hard work you have put thus far. Celebrate!
You are so lucky that you can explore different kinds of buns, and hair toys easily without worrying about length. I'm only near armpit length and I am already buying hair sticks, and trying to develop good bunning habits, since I don't ever plan to trim until I reach a desired length (don't know when that will be).
Thanks for keeping us updated! Maybe we should start a henna day treatment, and those that join can have a henna day here at MLHH to help pass time. Scott, your welcome to join if you plan to do your beard. hahaha! I find it silly imagining all three of us all muddied up and typing on the computer. But hey I know some guys would have rituals like the women do, except men have beards to think about in addition to hair.
Cheers,
rowie
Hi rowie,
Ha,ha,ha, I like that, a day of muddy haired guys chatting online to kill time while the henna performs its magic:)Imagine coordinating that between a bunch of us.LOL.Just have to be careful of drippage that can occur while wearing the mud because it does find ways to escape;)
I agree as I really would prefer to leave my hair loose more often than I normally do.When you achieve a nice head of hair it is a shame to have it covered.Still in some instances its required for protection from a nasty environment.I would like to try doing a bun but not quite sure how to do one.I know there are likely several youtube vids on the subject so I should go learn from those.Cheers:)
Mârk
Hi Mârk,
Glad you decided to try out bunning. If you do, then you can hide the baseball cap.hehehe Here is a youtube video from one of our member who goes by the name Trolleypup. He makes it look easy and effortlessly. I find it nice to watch men do it instead of women. I hope this helps.
cheers,
rowie
Hi rowie,
Thanks for the link to Trolleypup's video on the simple bun.I certainly will have to try that and see how well it holds:)Also I'll need to pick up some hairsticks even though some have said you can just use a pencil.I would like an alternative to the ball cap mainly when outside of work.I would likely stick with the cap for work only because all my hair gets protected from the work environment.Cheers
Mârk
Hi Mârk,
There are so many options with hair sticks appropriate for men. Pretty much you can shop online or anywhere that sells hair sticks.
I've read in another site that Trolleypup gets his sticks from this brand:
http://www.garrettwade.com/stainless-steel-chopsticks/p/39C04.01/
He uses the medium size in that video, unless he has upgraded to the large size if he is nearing calf or ankle length.
I get mine from Grahtoestudios:
http://www.grahtoestudio.com/shop.html
Kimi, the owner of that shop sells antler sheds and wood bullet sticks that would be appropriate for men. She can even customize anything you see in her site to your liking. I just ordered a custom made 5 tine hair fork for my thick coarse hair.
I'm glad to see that there is a growing number of long haired men using sticks to help aid hair to grow to extreme lengths.
Good luck, and please keep us updated with any up-dos that you maybe trying out. Have fun!
always,
rowie
Looks great Mark!
