Hello all!
I just wanted to share a moment with you guys. I used to dread my thick coarse wavy hair, but not anymore, thanks to the character "Khal Drogo" of the Dothraki, from the HBO series "Game of Thrones." I at least have an idea of what my hair could look like at classic length (butt length). It is evident in the picture that he has coarse hairs with wavy texture, which is very close to mine in texture and in color. I'm so excited and even more motivated to grow my hair similar to his length.
I guess sometimes it helps to see another man, model a similar hair texture to mine just to realize that my hair has the possibility to look "bad ass" in the future. Enjoy! And let's all embrace our own individuality of hair textures.
cheers,
rowie
Hey rowie,
That guy in the picture is amazing! Sure wish my hair would be like that but
as always we wish for something we don't have!lol.Still I'll be happy with what I've
achieved but honestly if you can grow your hair like that by all means ....Do It! Lol.That mane is HOT! Cheers
Mârk
Hello Mârk,
Btw, you have fabulous hair! I can't tell you how many hours I spend binding and wrapping my hair with cut up cloth just to make my hair look straighter like in my avatar pic. I know the "grass is always greener on the other side" right. Yes, that was my struggle all these years is fighting my frizzy coarse hair! hahaha But not anymore since there are so many guys on here that make my hair type look good. Yay to all hair types.
cheers,
rowie

Hello Rowie, and congratulations on becoming an official member here at this spectacular long hair circus!
I relate very well to what you say about the growing out of thick wavy or curly hair types.
I used to hate my hair but have now embraced it's natural texture.
Thick hair often is what i call "ugly duckling hair" when it is short and in the early stages of growing out it can look just plain awful.
However in time you will be thankful for having thick hair as after a while with added length it will stretch out a bit and added gravity will weigh it down.
Joao David's website on the LINKS page is a fantastic example of how thick hair can look fantastic with added length.
We look forward to seeing your hair journey from great to fantastic!
cheers, Duncan
Thanks Duncan. I didn't get to mention that all you guys give a lot of inspiration to men, which is why I joined. I'm glad to realize that I'm not alone with this type of hair. You are so right about thick coarse wavy/curly hair. Not a lot of people realize that it can be difficult. Especially on humid weather where it will be frizz time! Yeah! Yup I'll be rocking my hair from now own.
cheers,
rowie

That is Jason Momoa. I am unsure if all of that hair is his or if he has extensions. I will have to research that. He had long loose dreadlocks in one of the Stargate spinoffs. (Stargate Atlantis) If he does have extensions, probably at least half of the length you see is his for sure.
Best wishes on reaching a similar length in a few years, Rowie. How long is your hair now?
Scott
Hey Scott,
LOL, extensions or not I'm glad that i've found a good example of what my hair texture can look like at classic length. It is hard to find men with extreme lengths besides you. Although I fancy your almost straight hair and it's length. I just needed to see anyone with a similar texture as mine, since I've been battling and trying to embrace my natural texture. Part of why I have been battling with not likeing my hair texture is because I'm part of my mixed heredity of being Asian and part Spanish. Obviously the coloring of my hair and skin is dominated with typical Asian coloring, however I've been made fun of in my family for being the "odd" one with thick coarse wavy and sometimes bushy hair depending on humidity levels. Most of my family members have the typical stereotype of straight hair, except for my dad side of which I have a distant relationship.
I think there are several members in here that have my similar hair texture, just not the texture and color, as well as the coarsness. hehehe Although I think Trolleypup comes close. Right now I just had a trim and I am at armpit length. I'm finally at that stage where I can do small buns, and play with hairsticks. I am also trying to keep my hair in a low bun as i've been told by my sister that I should try to keep my hair in a bun as much as I can if I want to reach to extreme lengths. I'm just trying it out because that was her method that helped her reach ankle length before she cut it back to waist.
thanks for inquiring! I'm glad to see you back on the boards!
cheers,
rowie
Ditto on the heritage (although I'm Chinese X Welsh/English), I'm somewhat wavy, but the straightness predominates, so not bushy. I can get to a bit poofy, but that means I shampooed way too much.
