So, I've been growing for about 15 months now and I've been parting it on one side ever since I've needed to. I'm starting to consider that a part down the middle would work better and not be so asymetrical. Are there any tips for adjusting into this? I feel like waking up one day and changing the look I've had so long would be very awkward. Maybe I should try it over the summer when I'm out of school? Same thing with ponytails. Maybe I'm too shy for long hair? I think I'm too shy to actually post a picture for fear someone may recognize me and the fact that I think a little too much about my hair. Any advice from personal experiences would be appreciated!
I used to be nervous to wear my hair pulled back to school....and the parting thing as well.....when i finally went through with it i noticed no one ever said anything about it, almost like they assumed i did it normally
My hair naturally parts on the right side. I never part my
hair myself, it parts by itself without intervention.
I would love to have it part down the middle. Any way I can actually change that?

As I mentioned above, just before washing, part it down the center. Wash it like this and let it dry that way. After several washes, it should correct itself. If you wash once weekly, it will probably take maybe 6 or 8 weeks to achieve your desired result.

As a child and teen, My hair was parted on MY left.Along about 1969 in the throes of having long hair, I started parting it in the middle. in the 80s. I started parting it on MY right. ANd have kept it that way as my hair has fo=grown to nearly mid back length. With and without a tail, I keep the part on the right. actually it seems happiest when it is parted just right of center (no political jokes, please.) My hir is thick but striaght and takes to a part nicely, i do not know what hait type you have, but experiment with parts 'til you find one you are comfortable with. Most folks will not realize you have changed you part, nor will they comment.

Greetings, Sealed. Moving your part to the center is probably easiest done before washing, when dry. Wash it with a center part, and let it dry that way. Your hair is probably about 9" long now. Changing the part position should be easy at this length. Waiting until it is longer will make it a bit more difficult. Doing it over the summer is a good time to make this transition.
A photo of your hair would help. (You can stay anonomous by covering your face with a hand or showing your hair from the back, or oblique angle from the side. Some people who post here actually do this to avoid showing their faces.)

I've always had a receded hairline & a large forehead, I naturally went with a middle part. Never had a problem adjusting. My hair has always been fine but has always had a bit of body to it.I part it when its not to wet & let it air dry.
