Howdy folks question for you hard hat wearers out there. I have wavy/curly hair almost to shoulders and I wear a hard hat 12 hours a day, 6 times a weeks. I always cover my hair with a bandana with the back tucked in. I have noticed a lot of breakage on top of head. To not wear a bandana results in sticky sweaty hair that gets tangled crazy like. I shampoo 3 x week and hair feels granny. Also my hair is fine. Any pointers on best way to protect hair/ take care of it? Thanks in advance!
Great question and topic !!
I also wear a hardhat on a regular basis and to make matters worse, it is usually in extreme temperatures. Below freezing or way over 100....sigh.
Wearing a bandana is an absolute necessity....but I also have wrapped the hardhat band with another bandana....I suspect your breakage is coming from the crown of your head rubbing on the webbing inside the hat....there are several pads made mainly for cooling which can be used for hair protection.....
I once had a hardhat save my life....so the challenges are worth the effort.
Good Luck and Thanks for the great topic, that is what MLHH is here for.

I wear a Pony Scrub with my hard hat, protects my hair from mechanical damage as well as keeping it clean. Very secure and easy. Like a bandanna, it helps keep the sweat from dripping into my eyes.
