Well sadly I'm back east in lovely NJ after an awesome week in California:)As usual when I landed at the airport in NJ the weather was its usual crummy self.At least today turned out nice so inspired by Bill's partner Larry I took in checking out the spring flowers here.Cheers

WELCOME BACK! awwww you know you still love us East coast folks, well at least the people and not the weather I hope! Although, when I vistied Princeton for Phd programs, I was kind of turned off... Maybe just that area, so many right winged peeps. hehehe
All I can remember about NJ (pronounced "Joisy") is the damn turnpikes and tolls after tolls! I liked Atlantic City, just not the same as Santa Cruz. In fact the beaches here in the East Coast sucks compared to the West. There something about the water that just doesn't quite appeal to me.... Although the woodlands are pretty here, and there are actual babbling brooks here in New England woodlands, especially the further north you go, so very "Abercrombie-ish."
It looks like you have a gorgeous garden! Do you like to garden? Must be a "Joisy" thing. I'll have to start calling you Mr. Joisy. hahaha I'm just kidding, I'm sure there is something about the East coast that you must love....(crossing my fingers). Look at it this way, at least we are starting to get California weather, only it will get hotter and humid! But hey, if you haven't built your tan in CA then you still have plenty of time to get one with the upcoming summer season! Just make sure you use some "protection." Sorry I wrote soooo long, it's just that I haven't been interested in the posts lately. So I made sure to save all my typing just for this! Well, I'm so glad you made it safely! I hope that you'll still love us East coast peeps, don't tell me you left your heart in San Francisco.... like I did....
great to have you back!

Hi rowie,
Have to say I'm honored that my post inspired you to come out of lurkdom tonight;)Who would have thought that handsome longhair in the flower garden would be the key.LOL.
Well I can't say that I totally dislike the east coast as it does have lots to offer just as the west coast does. It's just that I live in a metropolitan area that is way overcrowded with rude, cranky people.Just today, less that one full day back, I go to my gym and there are two people cussing at each other because one wouldn't give the other two seconds to back his car out of a spot to leave! There blowing horns at each other and calling names. And this is in a well to do neighborhood!Ah yes,Welcome home to Joisey.LOL.
Hmmmm, yea Atlantic City is no Santa Cruz!LOL.Oh, and all those tolls! You almost have to have EZ Pass or else a pail of money to hold the change you'll need.An absolute rip off and suuuuure the tolls were to be removed once the road gets paid for.RIGHT!Oh well enough of that nonsense.
Oh as for the garden it is so so.I took that pic in the best part of it;)Have to say it is warmer here than back at the coast in Cali. Most of the week I was cold which is my fault due to lack of body mass I guess.LOL.If it ain't 70 I'm cold!Well maybe 65;)Anyway there are redeeming aspects of the east with you being one of them:)You sure gave NH a boost.Anyway thanks for the fun reply and write anytime my friend.Cheers

I like the east coast. As I look at various areas of the US of A and get disgusted with our weather i look at other areas of the country. (like the hurricanes in Florida, Tornadoes in the Mid West, Mudslides/Fires in California, etc. all of a sudden our
weather here in the New York area doesn't look so bad.
I have to say I love NYC!!!!! Especially the subway system! The best in our country, makes BART (Bay Area Railway Transit) look like a pathetic joke! I especially love Columbia University and I'm considering doing my doctoral over there. Although, I did not like Ithica that much. But someimes I feel like NYC moves way too fast for me....
I just love NYC because there is so much to do. I just couldn't last with its pace.
cheers,

I grew up in the south and now live in New York. I like the weather in NY better.
You make a very valid point as the weather in NJ, per say, is not extreme at all compared to the areas you mentioned.Hurricanes,by the time they reach NY/NJ,are just tropical storms with a lot of rain.Oh yea, didn't we have an earth quake last year?lol.Hardly a horrible disaster even though some overreacted. So I agree as far as natural disasters go we have it made in the shade:)As for NYC,I love going in there as I'm a short commuter train ride away from Penn Station:)In fact I think I'll be going in again this week as I love walking the streets of Manhattan and seeing the sights.Hmmm, now I'm feeling a bit better about the east coast.Go figure!LOL.Cheers

I knew there was something that you like! Of course it involves people....for some reason I feel like you would make a good social anthropologist. You have a very keen way of describing your observations towards the people you see and encounter, not to mention a nice smile/hair to go along your observations....It must be interesting what goes on in your mind with your observations.....Like you have so many stories to tell...
cheers,
rowie
Hi rowie:)
Oh I think you overestimate me as really I'm a very simple person in my opinion.I like nice people but sadly am kinda shy.Always seem to need that icebreaker. When I go into NYC and see some cool longhair I just can't make that effort to compliment that fact.I always fear of a negative reaction to my compliments. However I like to observe what I see and feel out a person to determine if they are approachable.Certainly don't want to offend anyone.Hmmm, maybe I should look into a new line of work as it never hurts to change careers:)It's been so cool chatting with you here and maybe someday we'll run into each other in the city should you decide to come down south.Cheers my friend.

Not necessarily. I would point out the winter your can some
severe storms that can pount the with Blizxard conditions,
more than two feet of snow, damaging winds, damaging ice.
Look at the major Nor'easters that pound the east coast in
winter.
Hurricanes tend to fizzle out when they head up the east
coast over the cold Atlantic ocean. That being said though
if you have a category 5 hurricane hit Florida it could still
be a category 2 or 3 by the time it hits the New York/Connecticut
coast. (Especilly if the ocean is very warm.)
Oh yea, didn't we have an earth quake last year?
Yes we had an earthquake that orginated in Virginia but was
felt along the east coast.
