I've read conflicting information about which type of brush does the least damage to hair. Most articles recommend boar bristle brushes, but others claim paddle brushes with plastic bristles are best. I currently use a paddle brush, and although I haven't noticed any breakage, my hair does feel rough and looks a bit dry after I brush it. Should I change the brush I use?
Personally I've been using a boars bristle brush for a couple years now and find it gentle to my hair.Of course part of it is the technique you use meaning if you tend to "yank" the brush through your hair forcefully it's going to pull lots of strands.I glide mine over the surface and towards the ends first before I dig the brush deeper in my mane.Just want to be certain I'm not ripping through tangles early on.I'd say that technique goes with any kind of brush you decide to use. Also my brush is not the paddle type but the 360 degree kind.Hope this helps:)Cheers

I have long wavy curly hair. I use a wide tooth comb. I also wet my hair and conditioner to make it easier to comb.
