So I've been growing my hair out for about 11 months now and my goal is about chest length. However, the haircut I had before I started growing my hair was fairly uneven and now my bangs are just about to my jaw, and the sides are about 2 inches past my ears, but the back is just to the top of my shoulder blades. Because of the length difference my hair looks like some kind of weird mullet.
I've been considering taking an inch off of the back in order to have an even growth, and so that it doesn't look like a faux-mullet, but at the same time I don't want to lose any growth. Should I get the back cut, or will the length difference become unnoticeable eventually?
I think that kind of describes what my hair looked like a while back. Instead of taking length off the back, I opted to just even up the areas where the different length hairs met, so it just kind of flows from the front to the back. Once you've got sufficient length to put it behind your ears the different lengths become a lot less noticeable. The advantage to leaving it long in back is that you can achieve a tail much sooner than if you trim it back. Sure you won't be able to get it all in a tail but it's much more comfortable in the summer heat if you can tail it. :-)
That's my $.02 worth.
