I'm getting it chopped all off Friday and I have really appreciated your support.
as for you who are asking "should I get my haircut for a job?" or similar questions my response is HELL NO! let it grow!
as for female friends if they want you to cut it tell them you're not going to and if they have long hair themselves tell them when they shave theirs off that you will 'consider' it(meaning you aren't necessarily going to go through with it IYKWIM)
Many of you have gorgeous manes and your hair looks much better than many women that I know who have over-processed and often bleached hair that is damaged and in general does not look good on them.
as a matter of fact I would rather see more Men with Longer hair and less women with long hair!
I think it's a cultural prejudice that Men should have short hair and women should have long hair and there are way too many ignorant people out there who seem to think that that Men and Women must conform to these gender stereotypes.
anyway, at least after Friday there will be one less female with longer hair! ;-)
Ashley, I didn't arrive in time to comment on your earlier thread, but I did read it. And found myself agreeing with Jarvis.
Personally I'm not 'precious' about long hair, I'm a fan of being yourself and finding your own personal identity. Central to this is putting yourself across verbally and visually in a way that is honest and true to yourself.
So do what makes your happy, I'm sure whatever you chose to do you will look and feel gorgeous, and that's the main thing, how *you* feel.
Well, in visual terms, I like long hair on everybody, but then I also value freedom and gender equality at least as much. The important thing is for you to do what feels right for you. Individuality is a right.
