From Realm Pictures, via Facebook...
Realm Pictures are looking for volunteers for their upcoming film 'The Underwater Realm - 1588'. It is an exciting opportunity to come and be one of our spanish sailors, in charge of shooting the canons in the midst of battle, on a life size full recreation of a Spanish Galleon gun deck. We are shooting it using the Red Epic camera system (the same that is being used on the Hobbit) and we are looking for local people willing to get stuck in and throw themselves around our ship set.
To be eligible you must:
- be based nearby in Devon or have accommodation in the area.
- be available from 2nd to the 6th of July (with a costume fitting on Sunday the 1st of July)
- be a male with a beard and/or long hair (short hair is acceptable if you have a full beard)
- be aged between 25 and 60
If you are interested in being a part of independent filmmaking history then please email alan@realm-pictures.com with your availability and a recent photo of yourself ASAP.
If you would like to find out more then check out the website http://www.theunderwaterrealm.com/.
Cool!
Hi Validus,
So cool to read about this wonderful opportunity for longhairs; but it would be helpful if "Devon" was described a little further... Devon, England? Devon, Minnesota? Devon, California? Devon, Tasmania?
So many Devons -- and so little time to drive there (LOL)!!

"Dawlish Warren is a small seaside resort near the town of Dawlish in Teignbridge on the south coast of Devon in England."
WOW, who would have ever thought that Wikipedia could answer so many many questions -- I don't remember Encyclopedia Brittanica ever being that thorough when I was a kid.
OK, the ultimate Wkipedia test:
"Dear Wikipedia,
What is the meaning of Life?"
I'll have to look that one up now (LOL)....
Thanks for your prompt reply, Validus!

It sounds like they lifted at least some of that from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Anyone tried asking that of Siri?
Does Siri answer 42?
Sorry, Ken, but by default it should be the original, although that probably doesn't work for Boston, Lincolnshire or Baltimore, County Cork.
Rats! Too far away, too short notice ... plus I'm going to a mad party with a few mates that weekend anyway.
So much for my chance at 15 minutes of fame! :(
