Hi everyone,
Just got back from Colorado Monday night after a little over a week's trip... what a great time! Headed there just as the heat broke in both states (back to 100° here, though ~_~ ...) and the weather stayed nice as we stayed in the mountain paradise of Estes Park. It was a blast with my family, parents and in-laws... couldn't have asked for better ^_^ . Enjoyed one night of the rodeo while we were out there, too... always interesting :p ~
Photo - now I know this isn't San Francisco (don't get to travel much) but I'm cooling it off just the same :D . Here I'm enjoying with my little daughter the lower-side of cool Copeland Falls, a third of a mile in from the Wild Basin Trailhead inside Rocky Mountain National Park, south of Estes.
The hike ended in a disaster - we forgot my daughter's milk in the car and by the time we got it to her, my water bottle burst in my pocket as I sat down on a rock to give it to her - this all after a Chinese fire drill on what to do (long story ~_~ ). All said and done, though, it all made for a good laugh in the end :) .....
So here's to the great American vacation - and back to reality ~_~ . Hope everyone's enjoying the dog days of summer, enjoy the heat ;) !
Sincerely,
Eric
Hi Eric,
That's a very nice pic of you with your daughter, with your ponytail looking quite excellent, too!!
I haven't been to Estes Park since August of '75, when I went hiking around Granby Lake (I think that's the name of it) with a good friend of mine at the time -- there's nothing quite like the Rockies, with the high country of Colorado, Montana, & Northern New Mexico being especially favorite areas for me!
Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience with us, and glad to hear you had such a wonderful time!
- Ken
Hi Ken,
Thanks ^_^ ! If it's been since '75, you'd be surprised how much it's changed... no longer small little towns anymore. I've been going out there pretty much every summer since I was born - today you wouldn't even recognize the sleepy mountain nook that was Estes. All things change, but one thing that doesn't are the good memories that are made :) .
I'll get out to SF one of these days to cool off, too ^_~ .....
Sincerely,
Eric
Hi Eric,
That certainly is a cool and refreshing picture as how I'd love to be there instead of in the heat back east.Looks and sounds like you had a nice vacation as I will not have one this summer due to my unemployed time off from work.Well at least before Labor day that is as I'm hoping to revisit SF in September:)Thanks for posting and sharing you trip with us as I've never been to Colorado myself.I'm sure I've flown over it many times but that doesn't count!LOL.Anyway enjoy being back to reality and do remain cool my friend:)Cheers
Mârk
Hi Mârk,
Nah, you and I are in the same boat... the only way I was able to get out to Colorado this year was because my parents helped out - wanted my in-laws to see some things grander ^_~ . As for fly-over country, we all know all too well about that here... but the thing that we all here kind'a chuckle to ourselves about is that all of the people that fly over, saying there's nothing below themselves don't know all of the great things that they're missing :) heh~
One of the brighter spots right now, though, is that I have an interview on Tuesday of next week. Worried about loosing my hair, though... oh well ~_~ .....
Hopefully have fun on Labor Day ^^ !
Sincerely,
Eric
Hi Eric,
I would never say the middle portion of our country has nothing to offer but I don't know anyone there to visit but do so in California.Maybe someday I'll visit that area as I do need to expand my horizons;)
So wait, you have a job opportunity so what's the deal about loosing your hair?Unless you are applying for a salesman job poaching scalp wax for baldies I don't see the problem my friend:)Yes, you too enjoy Labor Day when it gets here but please don't rush it!LOL.Cheers
Mârk
Unless the guy maybe hiring me's original profession is being a lawyer @o@ !!! :p (don't know if that's good or bad in my case of hair)~
You're welcome out here to the great plains anytime, Mârk ^_^ ! Heh, hopefully my Labor Day, if all goes as planned, it will be a quieter one at least :D !.....
Sincerely,
Eric
Lovely picture Yoshiki, glad you had a 'cool' time.
Dave
Thank you, Dave and welcome back ^^ ! So many things have happened while I was gone - and then some :o !.....
Sincerely,
Eric
Hi Eric,
I've visited that Park a couple times myself and was really impressed with its beauty. I think your hair is continuing to make excellent progress. Long hair combined with beautiful natural scenery make for great progress photos!
Ahh, thank you Jason, I was hoping to get a hair-shot in the mountains and there it was :D (my wife surprised me with it unintentionally). I was originally thinking of one on top of Trail Ridge Road, but when I saw this one, I knew this would be my trip photo, first one :) . Feels good ^_^ .
Did do a lot of hair damage during the trip, though :/ . Don't know if it was the hard water of the Rockies or a hair product I was trying (then stopped during the trip after a week and a half of use). Ever since the trip, though, my hair has been doing it's own thing (kind'a like James K's). Can hard water do that >< ???
SIncerely,
Eric
Hard water can definitely change hair used to softer water.
I lived 45 min-an hour from RMNP for many years, and I had to modify all my hair routines. Mostly an acidic rinse will do the trick to counteract the calcium.
Try vinegar rinses. That shoud set it right.
And yes, things have changed drastically with pine beetles. grand county was hard hit.
We stayed in the southern end of the park more than 35 years ago. Had a wonderful time.
This is a fantastic update picture Eric!
Bruce
Hey Bruce,
Thanks ^_^ ! My guess is is that things will have changed a lot for you, too, if you would go there today ^_~ . The park never really changes, though :) . Were you staying down by Allenspark back then :o ???
Sincerely,
Eric
That sounds familar Eric, but it's so long ago, I actually think it may have been Golden Gate State Park.
Bruce
Bruce,
Hmmm, never been there, but would like to some day... must have been beautiful :) ~
Sincerely,
Eric
