Closing in on August marks 8 months since my hair last saw a scissors. We have truly arrived at the "akward phase" now 90% of the time this stuff on my scalp is an uncontrollable hellian rather than hair. I'll pop up again in fall, October or so for a 10mo progress report.
Looks great, so far, even at only 8 months:)Have to say the dreaded awkward stage is better than a buzzcut or really short hair so just be patient and you will get through this my friend.Hope all has been well with you and certainly looking forward to your next update:)Cheers

You're looking good for 8 months. I know what a pain the awkward stage can be as it's not been that long ago that I went through it myself. With any luck you'll go through the worst of it during the winter months when wearing a hat all the time doesn't seem so out of place. :-) Once the front gets long enough to hang behind your ears it gets easier to deal with. Whatever you do, don't even think of having it trimmed at this stage -- you'll just prolong the agony!
Good luck!

That was one of my huge errors when I tried to grow it back in 2008. I kept getting it trimmed constantly until it was so butchered I just shaved it. Backward caps and dorags ftw at this point!
Good progress ! You are starting to look like the "corvettmike" I used to know....giggle
Thanks for the update

Looking good, Mike. If that's what you call "awkward," I don't think you have much to worry about.

Corvettemike,
Your hair looks great! Let it grow and flow and get out the caps and bandannas!
peace, jonalbear
Looks good. Once the front gets a little longer, your hair will look like Dave Lombardo from Slayer. (When he has longer hair, he sometimes cuts his short).
