The picture included is after not washing/combing my hair for only about a day and a half, but this happens almost every day now, :(. But with that said..
Ahoy there ladies and gentlemen. Let's start by saying that I'm 21 years old, I've been growing my hair for over 5 years, but with pretty massive trims due to damage. My hair is in the wort condition it's ever been in right now, and I seriously have no idea why. I do nothing that should damage my hair; no heat, curling, straightening, not washing too often.. I don't see why it's in the shape it is.
This all leads up to my biggest issue right now. My hair is falling out rapidly, and again, I have no idea why! My hair was thick and wavy for most of my growing experience, and now it's quite thin and I'm overall pretty unhappy with my hair. It really upsets me, because my overall goal since growing my hair has been to grow it to AT LEAST my waist, and now I want even further, and this whole situation hinders it all.
I feel when it comes to the damage of my hair, I'll have to cut off 6 inches or so, which would be horrible for me, but something's got to be done. I'm just wondering if you guys have had any experiences like this, or know how I can handle this massive hair loss.
It's hard to tell from a single picture, but here's my opinion:
Humans generally shed up to 100 hairs per day. Someone with long hair can accumulate as much as you show in that picture after a few days, but if it's happening every day then there may be something else going on. Male pattern baldness comes to mind, but the speed at which your hair is thinning is alarming. You could have something environmental going on that can cause hair loss, and there are many health problems that can do the same. My advise is to see a doctor. Health problems that cause hair loss as a symptom range from minor to severe and only a doctor can diagnose properly.
It happened to me, and there was no saving it. I held on for 9 months as the health toll on my body from a hospital episode was severe. Two doctors told me this.
Best to see your dr. very soon and know for sure.

The first question i'd have to ask is are you taking any prescriptions that list hair loss as one of the side effects?
Some prescriptions have that side effect.
Could be thyroid gland issues - yes see a doctor - cheers CEM
