Good time to everyone! I'm currently at the 13-th month of my hair growth. I haven't paid much attention to hair care till now, but at the moment lots of questions appear. I've been searching a lot in the internet, but all the advices are all too general. I'm asking a question here because I require some practical experience.
I posted photos of my hair earlier. It is straight, and quiet oily (or maybe normal, but close to oily).
Till now I've been using the same shampoo I used when my hair was still short. It was a men's series of some ordinary non-organic shampoo for oily hair (2 in 1, conditioner included). Well, not the worst shampoo, but not an expensive one. After using shampoo the hair keeps soft. I have to wash my hair everyday or the other day because the hair starts looking oily.
But I read that it's not good for hair, is it right? Don't want to spoil my hair because of wrong care.
How do you take care of your hair? What kinds of shampoos do you use? Do you use conditioners? Anything else?
Thank you!
Hi
4 years ago I made this video (among others) about general long hair care for guys. I think this one from 2008 might be of interest to you in regards to your wash routine. I am hardly the expert of all, but the emails I still receive from guys that started growing out their hair back then have in every single case met with success and I have seen many of their results which were fabulous! Please refrain from using any 2 in 1 hair products.
Best of luck to you.

Thank you, Justin! Just watched the video. It was really informative. Going to buy a conditioner and change a shampoo to something without condition as addition. Does it really matter what shampoo and conditioner to choose? Have got quite a poor choice of worldwide mass-product here in Ukraine (like Pantene, Schwarzkopf etc). Professional costs really a lot and I can't know if it's any good. Or it doesn't really matter that much and cheap labels will do?
Thanks a lot!

Probably doesn't matter too much, but you might want to experiment a bit to see what works best for you. A very basic line of products are "Aussie." Perhaps you have these available? If not, maybe some of the other great guys on this board could chime in and give you a heads up on a certain line of products. At one time on this board and for years, it just about seemed that the Aussie Line of Shampoo and Conditioner was the choice of just about everyone. But I am going back probably 10 years and before many new things have appeared on the market.

By the way, lots of thin flying around hair appeared recently. Forms sort of a nest of thin hair :) Haven't noticed anything like that earlier, when hair was a bit shorter. Does it mean that something's wrong with hair and it needs treatment? Or it's just ok for my kind of hair?
Probably dumb questions, sorry. Just first time going long-hair and I know really nothing about hair.
Thank a lot!

Without a photo is is really impossible to tell exactly what you mean. But my 1st guess is that you are seeing "new Growth" hairs. In any event, Conditioner is about 90% of the key to everything with the best for long hair. (My opinion of course.) The best insurance policy of all for the most healthy hair of all.
