This is for all of you guys with shoulder length or longer. I am trying to see where I stand regarding hair thickness.
Take a long narrow strip of paper and keep trimming little bits off that paper strip until it just fits around your ponytail somewhat loosely. Do this just below the hair tie. Now measure the length of the strip of paper and post the results. I will go first. Mine measures between 2.6 and 2.7 inches around. (66 - 68.6 mm)
I hope to see a lot of people participating in this. With good participation, I can do a spreadsheet to show where everyone is on the hair thickness scale.
Thanks guys.

Thank you for your input, Steve. You are a great example that being older does not always mean thinner hair. Your hair cross section area is 1.74 times what mine is.
Scott
Can't measure mine right now, but I have had thin hair all my life. I'm sure it's no thinner now in my fifties than it was in my twenties.
2.5"
Thanks for your input, Oren. Your cross section area is 0.89 of what mine is. (I used 2.65". I am betewwn 2.6 and 2.7.)
Scott
2.5 inches.

That is the same as Oren. Thanks for your input.
Scott
2.75"

That is just slightly thicker than mine. Your cross sectional area is 1.08 times what mine is. Thanks for your input.

Hi Scott,
Sounds like a fun survey but being I'm a bit impatient with things like this maybe you can do it for me when I see ya:)It'll be interesting what the results are over time. Thanks for the interesting idea with your thread:)Cheers my friend.

That is incredible, Robert. That is 2.28 times my cross sectional area. Thanks for your input.
Scott
Mine is 3.5 inches.
-----------------
That is some thick hair with a cross sectional area of 1.74 times as great as mine. Thanks for your input.
Scott
Mine is 2.5 inches. Is there anything I can to to get
3.5 inches? Or am I stuck with 2.5 inches?
-------------------
I am working on that too. I am trying Garnier FALL FIGHT to reduce shedding losses. (Shedding has dropped.) Hopefully my hair will get thicker. I take MSM, biotin, lecithin, and a hair supplement. I also mix tea tree oil in my shampoo as well.
Scott
Mine is 3.5 inches too.
Hey, so I checked and it was a liitle bit more than 10 cm (which is 3.94" so I guess it can be rounded up to 4")

That is a super thick ponytail and has a cross section of 2.28 times what mine is. Thanks for your input.
Scott
Hi Scott,
Surprisingly, 2-3/4 inches, or for you metric people 6.985 centimeters (sounds even better!)
Great question,
Bruce

That puts your cross sectional area at 1.08 times what mine is. Thank you for your input, Bruce.
Scott
3.5" or just under 9mm
--------------------
That is quite thick. About 1.74 times as much cross sectional area as mine is. Thanks for your input.
Scott
I knew my hair was super fine but I was surprised at how much so after seeing all the other measurements. Mine measures less than 2 inches, probably closer to 1.75 inches.

If that measurement is correct, your cross scetional area is only 44% of mine. I have a hunch that much of your hair does not reach the hair tie in back. Thanks for youe input, Dale.
Scott
Hi Scott,
DOn't now if you are still looking at this.
Immediately below the hair tie, I get 11.5cm circumference which is about 4.5 inches.
Cheers,

You, so far, have the thickest hair of anyone here with 2.88 times my cross esctional area. I have seen your update photos. Your hair is insanely thick. Thanks for your input, Matt.
Scott
Mine is only 2.1 inches! I guess this is what happens when you have thin, straight hair and have been sweating your @$$ off in 100-degree plus temperatures since March. My goatee is thicker than this:)

Yeah Phoenix AZ is not all that conducive to thick hair due to all the heat. (I do wonder how thick the hair is on Native Americans living in the region.) Thanks for your input, Richard.
