So, my hair is normally very soft and hardly ever gets tangled. For about a week now, my hair has been very dry and it's constantly getting tangled...and I have no idea why...
I very rarely use shampoo, but I did use it 2 days before my hair began to feel like this. It felt great the day after, but now....I just don't know. Do you think the shampoo is to blame? Maybe I used too much?
This is driving me insane...
I find that my hair typically looks better a day or two after the shower, and then it starts going bad. Typically, there's a sweet spot when there is just enough scalp oil in the hair that it'll coat the whole length without it being too big of a problem. If I go three days without cleaning out my hair, I'll notice that my hair will get unpleasant to deal with, but immediately after I take a shower I'll have a bad hair day. It's definitely a fine balance that you need to strike up. On the other hand, having it longer means that you can brush some of the oils down.
Also, are you using conditioner? It'll work to make your hair slightly heavier and easier to deal with after the shower.
Of course, my hair type is completely straight and medium coarseness... and I don't typically get any tangles.
I second the idea of using conditioner.
I take showers every day and use plenty of shampoo as well as conditioner. I've had long hair my whole life, and I've only ever had problems when I skipped conditioner. It adds weight and smoothness to your hair, and it makes it easier to comb after a shower. You can try looking for conditioners that are specifically designed for drier/very tangly hair.
Thankfully, I have straight, relatively cooperative hair, so I haven't had to use any hair products past shampoo and conditioner, but I've been told overuse of product can also cause problems. Have you had an event or something in the past few days that meant you may have needed some type of product? If not, you probably just need conditioner.
