It's been almost five months since I cut the 7 inches off. I had planned on getting a trim but life has just been very busy and I haven't. I feel my ends are still okay but they definitely have some wear and I don't want to go past the 6 month point without having them freshened.
We enjoyed a beautiful day with temperatures in the 70s so I thought I'd take the opportunity to post a bit of an update. My son is now 8.5 months old and he's so much fun at this stage.
Hi Jason,
What a nice surprise to check the board and see a wonderful update from you! Your family is looking great and well! Your son is as cute as a button! And your hair looks fantastic! It looks like you all had a fine time and enjoyed the nice weather. Thanks much for the awesome pics and keep up the good work on your blog:).
Take care, Ted
Thanks Ted.
Yeah, it was great to take advantage of the warm weather. Time passes so quickly and we're trying to soak up each stage of our son's growth.
Beautiful photos, Jason!
You've got a lil' one that will make you both proud.
- Oren
Thanks Oren. We are pretty proud of our little guy!
Thanks for the wonderful update, Jason. Your hair and your family look great! Soon we will be able to enjoy the beautiful New England days together and hang out once again. Take care brother!
Thanks Mark! I hope your plans work out without any problems and that you'll soon be up this way!
Beautiful pictures with a beautiful family. Your hair is looking fantastic. Where were these pictures taken? wherever it is, it's beautiful unlike the slums I live in :(
Thank you! The photos were taken in northeastern Massachusetts. Congrats on your progress! You are fast becoming a longhair.
Hi Jason,
What a lovely family, you are genuinely blessed, and thank you for sharing such wonderful, and heart-warming photos. You have so much of which to be proud.
Your hair looks excellent these days as well.
Take care, my friend,
David
Hi David,
Thanks very much for your kind words. Hair has been taking a bit of back seat with all that's going on but it's still nice to capture its progress now and then.
Hopefully if you take another road trip you'll be able to stop by and meet our son!
Take care,
Jason
Hi Jason,
Wow, that's quite an update and seems like forever since getting one like this from you.Almost don't know where to start but let's begin with your fabulous hair! That was a huge trim you did some months back but looks like it paid off dividends for sure:)Even though you want to touch it up again I'd say right now it looks healthy and not ragged at all.I don't trim my hair at all and the ends always seem clean so the only maintenance is the henna touchups for me.
Your son and wife look fantastic also and what a beautiful day at the beach.I love days like this as I went down to New Hope,PA yesterday which is on the banks of the Delaware River between NJ and PA.The weather looked identical to what you have pictured from your location.I'm including a pic from where I was which is a file photo but the weather was the same. Thanks for the update and checking in with the group Jason:)Cheers my friend.

Hi Mark,
I hope I've been doing the "benign neglect' thing with my hair but I have to admit that I haven't been oiling very often nor doing the maintenance trims I had initially planned on doing after I did that big cut. It is still my hope to get back to longer lengths while still maintaining its health.
I'm glad you were able to enjoy the great warm day as well. We probably won't see many more for quite some time.
Thanks for the kind words my friend,
Jason
Jason,
Great photo of you and yours. You look very happy!
peace,
jonabear
Thanks jonalbear!
It's a different way of life with a lot more responsibility and time constraints but definitely a happy time too!
Hey Jason,
I am glad all is well with you and your family! Thanks for the nice pics. I to will most likely be getting a trim soon. My ends have some slight wear.
Darrin
Thanks Darrin.
I hear you about wear. I wish I had hair with more of a coarse texture but my fine hair tends to get damaged more quickly. I hope your trim works out well for you.
Jason,
I just posted a pic today. Trim went well but, I am getting used to the new length.
Darrin
Great update Jason !
You're getting fitter and fitter on every one, by the way !
Vivien.
Thanks Vivien.
Trying to remain fit has become a way of life and I'd feel lost without exercising. Cycling in particular is addictive!
Jason
Thanks for the wonderful update on you hair and your family.....all are looking great......but you son REALLY needs to get working on that longhair look ! giggle
As always, Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Thanks for the kind words Walter.
Haha, my son is working on his long hair look! He has fine blond hair that is about an inch and a half long on top. It's still filling in and I'm really looking forward to see how it looks as time goes by.

Your hair looks great, Jason. To reduce damage to the ends, you may want to do a segmented tail for your bike rides. The wind can do a lot of damage over time. The lowest tie should be about 3 inches from the end. About 4 should work for your length.
It is good to see you experiencing the joy of fatherhood. Your little son is growing fast. It would be great if he grows up to have long hair.
Scott
Hi Scott,
Thanks. I do wear my hair braided while cycling. It seems inevitable that there will be some damage. I know a hair glove would help but likely won't invest in one.
I hope my son decides to become a longhair. Of course the decision will be his once he's old enough to decide what he wants. In the meantime we have no plans of cutting any of it.
Your pictures bring back some memories. My son is just about to vote for the first time, so it's a while since he was that age, LOL!
FWIW, he does have long hair. He went for a short spiky cut when he was 8, but decided to grow it out again when he was 12. We also have a daughter, and she too has long hair. She also went through a short hair phase, although she only cut back to shoulder length.
Anyway, what's important is that they are happy and healthy, not so much the length of their hair.
Hopefully society will eventually be enlightened enough to realize that children should be able to make their own hair choices.
Hi Jason
What a lovely family you have, really happy pictures :)
Your hair looks excellent and is as good as I have ever seen it I think. And I agree with Vivien, you are looking very healthy and fit.
Best wishes to you and your little family
Dave
Hi Dave,
Thanks for your kind words. Fatherhood is an amazing experience for sure.
Best,
Jason
There's nothing like your own child to help you put things into perspective, is there? This is the time when everything they see is brand new to them. I remember when our son was that age, it made me want to view the world around me through his eyes and to make sure that the things and people (including me) were of the caliber that I wanted him to be around. It's awesome. Changes your views on almost everything around you.
That's definitely true. It's like seeing the world in a whole new light again as I see him interact and be amazed at what to adults are completely mundane things. Children are a gift.
