Hey Gordy
Hope you are enjoying a nice Fall Season and you look to have fantastic Long Hair indeed. Bravo! I just popped over here for a little bit tonight and saw your B+W photo. A very wonderful "Art Photo" indeed and I am very much interested in knowing the brand name and model number of your cam as I would like to get one just like you have myself. Does "Best Buy" have them? "Target?" Really neat! :-) I could find all kinds of uses for one of these with my photo projects and it is just so unique.
Thanks ever so much in advance Gordy and best of luck to you with continued long hair success! :-)
Take care-
Justin~
Hey there Justin..First i want to thank you for your kind words about my hair and also about my pics. My camera is built in to my laptop. It is a gateway that i purchased several years ago. The model number on the laptop is NV73...not sure if any of this information will be of any assistance to you.the camera has a settings mode with properties on it to adjust contrast, hue, brightness, gamma (whatever that is)and sharpness.i can never seem to find the settings that represent a 'high-def' look..everything seems to have a "soft' look to it.But it is what it is and some here actually have written me and told me they like the photos...because it really is about the hair..and being 51 i am fortunate to still have a decent looking mane. Thanks for your interest and take care.
Gordy
Hi Gordy and no wonder I was unable to figure out what you were using for photos. There MUST be a setting for "normal," but in the meantime what interesting effects this Gateway, (never even heard of the brand)can do. I will check to see if they are still made, and the most interesting thing is that they can do things that people might struggle with a long time in Photoshop to achieve. Thanks for letting me know this and with all good wishes.
Justin~
ps: I am trying out a Sony "Cybershot" which can do amazing things such as the photo enclosed taken in Vancouver a week or so ago at a Farmers Market. (The camera went off by mistake as I was trying to adjust, and to think, this ended up my best photo! LOL) But of the Cybershot I would warn people to beware as the only way to get the photos or videos one has made into their computer is that one MUST install the soft ware in the Camera which grabs all of your regular photos and makes quite a mess out of things. And further, advts pop up telling you to click here so as to get out on the internet to take advantage of all kinds of features. (Doesn't say if they are free or there is a charge.) So for the Sony Cybershot.........it is being returned to Best Buy. This software disruptive feature was not disclosed on the box nor in the display. Even those who worked at Best Buy did not know of it. It IS mentioned "casually" in the instruction manual, but that is all. Apparently they are hearing from other people of troubles and are not pushing these cameras on customers, though this series is still on display.
Gateway has been around for a number of years. They used to have brick and mortar stores. They are now owned by Acer.
Alot of digital cameras can be set to do black and white.
I have never heard of an Acer (or Gateway) in this area, but will look into it for sure. Yes, I know about taking photos in B+W as my camera does that also as well as some other settings. Thanks for the input however.
Hey Justin...check out the HSN website..that is where i purchased the laptop..not sure if this model is still available or not but worth checking it out...Gordy
Both have been around for many years. Acer made great monitors,
they also made really crappy laptops. (I made the mistake of buying one a few years back.)
Gateway followed the route of Dell, except they opened their
own chain of stores. Those stores eventually closed. Gateway
probably would be bigger now if they followed Dell's strategy of
selling through other retailers, and on line.
I swear by Dell computers. They have always served me well. I like their support department. I would probably stay away from any Compaq computer also. I think they are a cheaper Hewlett Packard. Just my 2 cents.
Ted
You do realize Compaq has been owned by Hewlett Packard for a few
years now?
What is ironic about that is Digital Equipment CEO a number of
years ago said the personal computer would never be a success.
Years later his Digital Equipment was purchased by Compaq who later was purchased by Hewlett Packard.
Yes, of course I realize Compaq is owned by HP. I was just being facetious. Still wouldn't touch a Compaq with a ten foot pole. HP makes some good machines, though.
A number of digital cameras have a setting to do black and white.
