Thank you to all of you who complemented my hair on my 3 year post, it means alot.
This is a list of the hair products that I use, I have my beard brush and wide tooth comb, Crew pomade for my mustache, my NOW Virgin Coconut oil cold pressed and unrefined, for the conditioner I wash my hair with is Suave Naturals tropical coconut, and the thick conditioner is L'oreal Eversleek Repartive smoothing conditioner, both I buy at Walmart. And my gel is Deva Curl light hold defining gel bought at ULTA. All Silicone free and Sulfate free.
Some of you were asking what the Curly Girl Method "CG" was, I explained it in my 3 year post.
http://dormroomcurly.blogspot.com/ is the link I learned from, but I will tell you how I did it.
First off you need to toss all your old products that have silicones, ingredients ending with -cone, -conol, or -xane. And no more Sulfates.
Next buy a shampoo that has no silicones but has sulfates to start the CG Method, wash your hair and get those cones out, this part sucks because it really dries out your hair, you no longer need this shampoo ever. Now your ready.
Now you need a light conditioner, I use Suave Naturals tropical coconut, wash your hair with it as normal but really massaging the scalp to lift the natural oils, rinse.
Now you can put the thick condidioner in, I use L'oreal Eversleek Repartive smoothing conditioner, this is also the only time I ever comb my hair other than when I step out of the shower, use a wide tooth comb, let sit for 5 min or so, you can rinse all out or leave some, depends on how dry your hair
is, I used to leave some in but my hair and scalp has now ajusted, takes a bit of time. Rinse with cold water now, this will help eliminate frizz. Now squeeze out the remaing water and either air dry or get a microfiber towel, normal toweles dry
hair out. I just get it dry enough that hair is no longer dripping, gel goes in better really wet. This is where I comb it one last time, then seperate the hair down the middle and lay it over each shoulder, The gel I use is Deva Curl light hold defining gel, I put a dime size amount of gel in my hands rub them together and wipe on the top of my head, then tip my head to one side and do the same but finger comb it through, same on the other side, then I put a pea size amount in my palms, rub together, tip my head to the side and grab the bottom of my hair and squeeze it up toward my head like a slinky with the gel in my hands, and do the same with the other side. Let it air dry now, the more you mess with the hair while it dries the more frizz you can get, dont break the gel mold.
