Hello everyone,
I finally had enough courage to post on this awesome site. I've always worn my hair long at various lengths. This photo was taken recently after my last hair cut. I'm not sure if you can distinguish the length by the pic, but I had at least 4 inches removed.I am starting to feel a little uncomfortable with having long hair due to the negative stereotypes that associated with it.I was thinking about cutting to shoulder length, making it possibly more acceptable? Anyway, I realize that I shouldn't worry about the way others may feel as long as I'm comfortable. It's really too bad about the issues involving men having long hair. Everyone on this site looks really cool!
As do you, too, Sir. One should be comfortable with their hair else one should change it. Your hair, and beard look great. Hope ypou keep the length. and you are correct. It is you, and no one else that matters in the question of ones hair. I am finding I am very comfortable with my hair right now, similar to yours in length. Still letting it continue its growth, however, Mid back is my "Teaditional length" from back in the 70s.
Hi Gregg,
I am glad you posted on here. Your hair is awesome looking. Your photo is just one more to inspire me in my quest for long hair. I can't stand the stereotypes that people attach to men having long hair. I don't know whatever happened to people minding their own business. I sure hope you don't end up cutting your hair because of this.
On a side note, I dig your name because I like the Allman Brothers Band. Plus your Pearl shirt is definitely something to be digged:) Take care and please don't cut your hair.
Ted
Hi Ted,
I was curious, you mentioned something about your quest for long hair. How long is your hair currently?
Also, do you know if Gregg Allman still has long hair?
Gregg
Hi Gregg,
Yes, Gregg Allman still has long hair. He mostly seems to wear it in a ponytail. I recently saw them on television in a concert. It was very good.
As far as my current hair length:
Hi again, Gregg. If you scroll down a little ways you can see my previous length befor I cut it after 2 years or so.
Ted
1st. Your hair looks great so I would not change it.
2nd. Negative stereotypes are nothing more than the opinion of people who want to classify people into groups.
If I were one of these, looking at this last weeks local papers, I would have to say all buzzcut guys are child molesters. Everyday on the front page, not a longhair in sight.
We know all buzzcut guys as a whole are not that way. Just as you know you are not part of what some unintelligent people claim you would be under their definitions.
In 1968 I grew my hair. Except for 1 time being talked into cutting it to get a job I hated and 1 time because of chemotherapy and radiation treatments I have been a longhair ever since and proud of it.
We must be true to ourselves above all. and let the narrowminded think what they want.
Do what makes you happy Gregg.
I started growing my hair in 1964. It's been long ever since.
Got lots of hassles from schools, employers, etc.
But i'm 58 now and once I broke the age of 48 the complaints stopped, I then became that "eccentric old man" with long hair.
Ulitmately it is your hair and your decision of how long it you want it, what style it is worn in, and what clothes you wear.
That's an excellent point. I find myself joking to my family whenever I see a criminal on the local news. I usually say "See, he doesn't have long hair or a unkept beard."
Hi Gregg and welcome to the mlhh by taking the ultimate plunge! Thanks for also posting your pic as your hair looks fantastic and really I wouldn't have cut the 4 inches unless badly damaged. You have to take the naysayers opinions with a grain of salt as I would never criticize anyone's appearance unless I was asked specifically for an honest opinion.Likely those who criticize are hair haters on men who would love nothing more than to shame you into buzzing it all off.Keep the hair and your identity my friend:)Cheers and happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone,
Just a few days ago I posted my fourteen year update since my last haircut. I didn't get to that point by caring what other people thought about 'MY' hair. I got here because I am a longhair. Long hair is not something that I have, it's a part of who I am.
Daniel
I see your point. I believe most of us with long hair can relate. Despite my insecurities, I also feel that long hair is definitely a part of me which started from a very young age. Sometimes I wonder if it was a inborn trait. Anyway, I admire your confidence. That's something I need to develope.
I echo the others that you should keep your look the way you want--it certainly works for you! I, too, feel that some of us have had an attraction to long hair since birth. I remember wanting long hair when I was very young. I had to wait for the Beatles to bring the revolution that all of us enjoy today!
I don't know about being attracted to long hair at birth. My earliest desire for long hair came when the Beatles burst onto
the scene. Once I discovered the Beatles I had to have long hair.
And the rest, they say, is history.
Wow really nice long hair and beard always have like men with long hair and beards, Keep your hair as long as you want and your beard as well Hot look.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for the compliment. With all great support, I decided not to give into peer pressure my cutting it, at least not now.
