A pic of me standing next to an awesome steampunk motorbike - taken a day or two before my dreaded trim on 10 November 2012. Happy days before the great apocalypse!
My g/friend and I just happened to come across that bike parked a few streets from where I live. No idea who owns it but it was totally amazing! Note the dragon head mounted at the front and the bat adorning the back (no, not me - the one on the roll-bar).

Hi Damon,
This is a way cool pic. I like the way you look standing next to the bike dressed in black. And of course, your hair is looking awesome in this pic. And yes, this is THE PIC! Thanks for posting!
Ted
Tnx for the kind words, Ted!
I nearly always dress all in black. Makes clothes choices so simple. But I'm not fussy: I'll wear any colour at all - as long as it's black. ;)

Hi Damon,
That's certainly an interesting motorbike as it looks like something Herman Munster might drive!LOL.Can't imagine how it feels to pilot and hopefully it safe for the road;)Also you look great and hopefully you hair is making a nice comeback.Still sporting the skinny jeans I see.lol.I find they are a hard to wear in very cold weather but still look great:)Cheers my friend.

Not sure. It had an old licence plate but no road tax disk that I could see (illegal to drive without one here in the UK). I suspect it might have to be trucked or towed to events or whatever.
Only coz they're so tight I can't get 'em off! I've booked an appointment to have 'em surgically removed! :)
Nah, not really. But I'm so used to skinnies that "normal" jeans just don't feel right anymore. You're right about the cold weather though - the wind goes right through them. It was a cold day when that pic was taken - which is why I look a bit top-heavy. I was wearing T-shirt, sweater, fleece and scarf under my biker jacket - which with the skinnies makes me look like a black flamingo (fat body on stick legs)! :)
I keep yelling at my hair to grow back to what it was. I figure I'll cower it into submission. So far my plan seems to be working: it's growing like crazy!
Damon
-----------------------
**** What the heck is a road tax disc!LOL.Sounds like something I hope never makes it way over to the US!
****Yea,That's why I like wearing them more on mild days so I can pair the jeans with a snug fitting shirt;)I hate wearing bulky jackets just for the reason you mentioned.Makes you look too big up top.lol.

It already has in most states of the USA - only in a different guise under another name: an annual registration fee sticker applied to the licence plate. In the UK, the "sticker" is an annual (or staggered segments) car tax disc applied to the windscreen.
Gotta love tax! :)
Damon
--------------------------------------
@@@@OK kind of figured that is what it was but that name!LOL.So in your face about being taxed. At least a registration fee sounds nicer.lol
Mârk
We already have it here in the US of A in a number of forms:
1. The Auto Excise Tax (a tax based on the value of the car
paid annually).
2. The car registration.
3. The gas tax. (State and Federal)
4. A road tax (Here in New York trucks pay a Highway tax.)
5. Tolls (Here in New York we have lots of them.) Also a number of states are going to open road tolling like in New Hampshire.)
6. Parking tickets/speeding tickets/etc. all to enhance
revenue.
7. Annual/semi annual auto inspections.
8. mandatory auto insurance.
Hmmmm, just think if you didn't bother to own a motor vehicle you could actually become a rich man!LOL.Think of all the money you'd save not having to pay all those fees on top of the cost of the actual car.Really though, the only way to pull that off is to live in a city with good public transit.
Mârk
And unless you are a total homebody, even then you will be paying for those things via car rentals/shares/etc. PLUS your portion of other taxes that go to subsidize roads and road use.
It seems like they get us coming and going(no pun intended)!
Alot of comes down to the way the US of A wsa set up years ago.
Years ago when gas was 20 cents a gallon people got jobs at one
location, bought a house an hour away, and didn't think twice about it. Now that gas is near $4 a gallon, the traffic is a nightmare, and the mass transit options are few and far between
they are starti8ng to rethink these things.
When you get two feet of snow and nobody can get to work it's bad for you to live two blocks from your job. But then too
when gas is $4 a gallon, your car is in the shop, or parking at
work is $40 a day it's really conventient to work two block away from where you live.
Thank goodness I don't have to worry about getting 2 feet of snow! Ain't gonna happen down here in Texas! Parking at $40.00 a day! I don't think so!
-------------------------------
Well I won't be stuck at home since we have great mass transit by me
plus I own three motor vehicles. On the road again......
Mârk
Also when you buy xxxxxx at the local grocery store you're paying for those roads since that item you picked up at the grocery store
came in by truck on those roads. And those trucks pay tolls, use
gas, etc. and it's all passed on in the price you pay at the store register.
Except for several issues...........
1. Mass transit in the US of A stinks big time. I took it for many years in college, it stunk then and still does.
2. in a number of locations the fare has been raised so much that it no longer is worth the hassle/poor service/etc.
3. Where I work I can drive to work in ten minutes, it takes
three hours to get there by mass transit. Not a viable solution for me.
4. I would also add that many areas of the US of A have
exactly zero mass transit options.
5. Taxpayers/drivers complain about paying taxes for mass transit. But what they don't realize is you need 1/3 of commuters on mass transit to avoid major grid lock. This gets
proven time and again when Amtrak/Mass transit shuts down due to strikes, etc.
Still sporting the skinny jeans I see.lol.I find they are a hard to wear in very cold weather but still look great:)Cheers my friend.
That's my problem too. I don't like the cold so I have to wear
thermal underwear in the winter (like now). Skinnies don't fit
over thermal long johns so I have to give up my skinnies for a
while and use levis skinners or offenders that will go over my
thermals. As far as having to have a vehicle, I live 13 miles
from the nearest town so its necessary, as is long hair to keep
my head warm!!
You reminded of one reason I now live in the UK instead of Canada (where I grew up). Winters here are cold but nowhere near as cold as Canada! TG I no longer need to wear thermal underwear. I still wish my hair was still as long as it was in that pic though - to keep my head nice and warm!
I just can't stand the cold. People here keep telling me I should be used to it coz of where I'm from. Well no, I never got used to it ... that's one reason I left!!! :)

Love it!

A pic of me now - with a few mates. I'm the one with a cheesy grin seated far left.
No, I know my hair isn't very clear. I'm still not happy with it. But the good news is that it's growing like crazy! I guess it's just my imagination and wishful thinking but it seems to be growing a lot faster than the usual 1/2" a month. Maybe it resents being trimmed! :)
Damon
Hi Damon,
You still look great! I like the glasses you're wearing. Looks like you all were having fun. I hope your hair is growing back faster than usual. Thanks for the great pic and update!
Take care, Ted
