Thats it for the most part....Ill Admit my ends are split and pretty thin down around my waist....but even if i kinda make up my mind to let someone Trim it(my Girlfriend in the most recent case) I always back out and never let anyone touch it with scissors....Its been 4yrs since my hair was last butchered and I guess im still not over it....
anyone else have this issue?
I sympathise with this dilemma, if you are only talking about the ends, cannot you do it yourself?
My last trims were done in this style...
Also, if your hair is long enough for S&D, that will help with the damage (and resulting tangling), but not the shape or shagginess.
Good luck!
Feye's Self Trim
I can totally empathise (see link to my thread below). I would not ask my g/friend to trim my hair again (unfair and upsetting to her too if the result is not good) but I will go to a RECOMMENDED professional hairdresser once my hair gets long enough again. If it's just the very ends of my hair that need trimming I do it myself. Straggly hair is not a good look.

I can sympathize with you on this. I've found too many untrustworthy hair butchers over the years. (I found a good one in the 90s but that shop ended up going out of business.)
For me I don't trust anyone anywhere near me with scissors.
I am fortunate in that my partner (Who owned a hair salon in Scottsdale before he retired) is most considerate when it comes to hair cutting. I trust him fully. Just had a "trim about ten days ago, All he did was cut a few split ends and some overly long "leaders' Neatened the ends nicelt, My hair is just past mid back, down to the "nips' in front, and I am considering holding it at this length. By the way, The I was really taken by the nearly unseen amount of hair on the floor after that "trim' Caring haircutters are out there. Like a trustworthy mechanic, you just have to find him/her.
I completely sympathize with you. With hair the length of yours, though, self-trimming is really very easy if you take plenty of time and do it right. I'm kind of extremist about this sort of thing and, in fact, have gone as much as 20 years without having anyone else cut my hair. There are some good how-tos around (YouTube should have a few) on self-hair cutting. That way, if it comes out a little wrong you have only yourself to blame, but, also, you know how to fix it.
Im lucky I guess,my best friend Tina is a hair dresser and she knows my goal of waist length hair so she knows to take very little off during my trims.
