Hey everyone. I recently decided to grow my hair back out. I had it somewhat long a few times when I was younger, but usually cut it before it got to where I wanted it.
I have had it short now for a few years, and am now in the earliest phase of growing it back out.
This time I won't cave like I have in the past. I realize I'll have to go through quite a long period of dumb looking hair but that's a small price to pay.
I have a few pics I'd like to post, one of me now, one of me a few years back before I gave in and cut my hair, and one of what my goal is.
I'm not sure I can do it all in one post. I'm unfamiliar with this type of format so I'll have to learn as I go, or I'll post the pics in follow up posts if necessary.
Oh, and the last pic is some dude from some show on channel 11. When searching through pics of the style you want, you get a ton of famous people, or models.
I felt an explanation was in order, lol.
Anyway, here are the pics....now, before, and what I'm aiming for.
Any estimates on how long you'd expect to go from pic 1 to the last pic?
Heya Rob!
You and I are starting our hair journey pretty much at the same time, as I too, am at about the same length as you now :)
With a growth of about 1/2" a year, I would assume you'd get to your desired length in about 12-14 months, nothing you can't handle!
As for the inbetween awkward stage, I am planning on using a beanie as often as I possibly can, and try to cut down on the gels and stuff.
Good luck with the growing, and update us often! I plan on posting up a pic once a month here :)
Raul.
Cool, I thought I was the only one with short hair in here.
I also plan on wearing a lot of skull caps or hats in the months to come.
I also plan to post a monthly pic to track my progress.
The Pic I posted today is actually 15 days after my last hair cut.
Good luck...it's only a matter of time!!

On average hair grows 1/2" per month.
If i'm not mistaken is that Tom Brady in the last photo?
(Quarter back for the New England Patriots? Greatest quarter back
ever to set foot on a football field?)
Ulitimately it takes alot of patience to grow your hair,
just avoid scissors, barber shops, tangles, trims, etc.
But all the difficulties will be well worth it when you
reach your goal length.
I started growing my hair in 1964, now in 2012 it is still long and will be long until the day I die. (I'm 58 now.)
Obviously a typo, sorry ;)
Awesome!
Hi Rob,
Welcome to the board! Your hair would look great if you grow it longer. I would think it would take somewhere between 1 and 2 years to get to your desired length. Of course, this depends on how fast your hair grows. Average growth is ~6 inches per year. I do wish you much success in getting to your goal length. Keep it growin' an flowin' friend!
Ted
Around 15 months provided there are no cuts, trims or even-ups along the way.

Hi Rob,
Welcome to the hyperboard, and good luck to you in your long hair growing journey. You appear to have a great hair of hair to work with, and since it also appears to be fairly straight, growing it should be relatively straightforward. Depending on your growth rate, you should be able to attain the length in the lowest photo in a period of 12-18 months time. Who knows, when you achieve your goal, you may even want to consider growing it even longer!
Good luck!
David
