Hi guys,
Long time no talk!
I'm finally a second semester senior in high school (with that darned dress code T_T).
I've just got it cut to collar length (front's about 4 cm below the chin) from touching my t shirt where the collar touches the actual fabric. That's just over two months of growth.
I'm planning to get cornrows for the remainder of high school. Is it practical to mask growing hair with those and could they stay given that my hair is stick straight (it's coarse though)
Hey man,
Well when I grew my hair out first, I had corn rows for about three months straight. My hair is curly Irish, and they stayed it ok. But I had them in for a month at a time(I had them done professionally and once a month change was recommended). I was going crazy not being able to wash my scalp, and found the pull of hair quite unsettling. When I stopped eventually their was no damage as such. Just a feeling of a neglected scalp, and a tired ear from a constant slagging, for being white with the style.
Hello!
I would really not recommend getting braids done for several reasons.
1. I have hair down to nearly my waist and decided to get it cornrowed for fun. the process was not at all enjoyable, it took about 1 and half hours and the tension between my scalp and hair was unbearable giving me headaches quite often for the first few days.
2. They did my " line up " . apparently they shave the baby hairs on the side and front of your face to make a fade, this looked cool but it required me to do it once a week or the baby hairs would grow out thicker and fuller and look ugly
3. When they tie your hair at the ends after braiding, they will most likely use smaller rubber bands, this pulls at the ends causing more breakage not to mention that the ends of your hair will get drier quicker
4. Washing my hair was a pain. I had to get specail shampoo and conditioner for my hair and even then that didn't fully moistureize it.
All in all I say do not get it, i'm a senior in high school as well and take it from me it was a bad experience and while some ppl liked me wearing the hairstyle, most of my classmates and friends gave me bad feedback ( me being siberian with straight, brown hair.)
The best thing you could do is let your hair grow naturally, take care of it, and have patience :) hope this helped
