Well, it's not much to show off, but it's something!
I've started at around 1 inch or so on the top of my head, and around 1/2 inch on the sides and back, and this is my 2 month update.
My hair is actually reaching my eyebrows if I pull it down, but since it's rather wavy and "airy", it's not growing straight down, never did, hehe.
The beanie is my best friend, btw! Patience is virtue!
Here's the back. No cutting whatsoever, so it's messy as F ;)
---------------
You are just starting out. Just wait a few months, at some point it will get really messy and annoying. Don't give up though, once shoulder/ponytail length is reached, it gets much easier.
I really like that gothic cross angel wing tattoo.
Sure thing, my friend! Have gone through this phase countless times, and I know it gets much "worse" in the awkward department after a few more months! hehe...
Thanks for the compliment, that tattoo is one of my favorites, and is probably the only downside to growing long hair and covering it up.. though the other 20+ tattoos should make up for it...
Hi Raul,
Your hair looks like it will grow out nice. It will start to get unruly and you will want to use caps or beanies or what ever to restrain it. It's a fun journey though. I am starting to get to where I can kind of put mine behind my ears a little bit. The fun is just starting for you my friend. Just imagine when it blows in the wind and you can feel it down your back! That will be an awesome feeling! I can't wait to see your hair when it gets longer. Please keep us updated and take care of yourself and your hair!
Ted
Hey Ted, having roughly the same hairtype, you and I are going to be met with the same challenges, and as you said it, thank god for baseball caps and beanies, hehe...
Glad to hear you are starting to near pony tail length! You deserve it, and it surely is a great feeling being able to finally put it up!
Take care, brother!
Hi again, Raul. I for got to mention about the tattoo. That is an awesome tattoo! You can always put your hair in a tail and we can still probably see it:)
Take care, Ted
Heya again, Ted!
Seeing as my favorite way of putting My hair up, has always been The samurai bun, I think it will all work out just fine :)
Time to put some new pics online, Ted! We wanna see that hair and how much growing it has done :)
No worries Raul, that's about the length I started at too. In a few months you'll be wondering "Where did all this fricken hair come from?" That's what I said yesterday when I found out I could pull it into a (admittedly small) tail. Good fortune on your hair journey!
By the by, that's some pretty sweet ink you've got there.
Hey Buddy, thanks for the compliment on the ink! Pretty much one of my biggest joys in life, is writing my lifestory on my skin... love that feeling of the needle, the buzz, the smell, and of course, the memories afterwards :)
Regarding the hair, trust me, I know. I can't tell you how many times I've been through this phase here, and held out as much as 6-10 months or so. It will get ALOT messier, I know :D Really glad I've got this great community here helping out with morale though the growing out proccess! Makes this alot easier and more fun!
The plugs and the tattoo look great !!
Thanks, Tes!
Trying to keep them at just 1/2" ain't easy, but I don't want to get the droopy, saggy lobes some of my friends have gotten when going much bigger, and the choice in plugs and tunnels is rather great at this size, so I'm happy :)
Tattoo is actually done in memory of my grandfather on my mother's side who passed away. He was a great catholic and it was somewhat of a closure tattoo for me for a period with alot of pain. Thank you :)
Keep growing! Awesome tats!
Thank you so much! :)
Hey Raul,
You're off to a great start. You have such fantastic hair. Let's hope this will be final time you go through these stages and that you'll remain a longhair this time!!
I actually didn't mind the awkward stage that much. It was kind of fun to see the progress so evident and know that it was just a milestone on the journey.
Thanks for the update and I look forward to more as you progress!
Jason
Hey Jason!
Thanks alot, bro! Kinda funny hearing I've got great hair from someone with as awesome hair as you! Thank you :)
And after having read your blong, I call tell you that you didn't mind your awkward stage as much since you have rather fine and straight hair. Mine is thick and rather wavy, so in a 4-5 month's time it will be totally out of control... thank god for beanies! :P
I wouldn't exactly say that because it IS something and is looking great already. Really amazing what only 2 months can do, and even more amazing what a full years growth can accomplish. Good luck to you and the best thing you can do is not let how your hair is looking bother you. As someone else once said years ago right here: "It is a work in progress."
Justin~
Thank you, Justin!
I will take this opportunity to tell you that I have been watching all your youtube videos and have let them inspire me, you are one good guy, and I hope all is well with you, your health and your life :)
Hey Raul,
Nice start to your newly embarked journey to longhairdom my friend:)Being you've been through this in the past at least you know what your up against but this time I hope you reach you goal length whatever that may be.The beanie should work well for you until a ponytail can be made so you can then show off your growing mane:)Anyway thanks for the update and keep us posted as the journey forges onward;) Cheers
Mârk
Hey Mark,
Thanks man, no surprises here. I know exactly how to style it in the in between stages, and I also know when the time has come where styling has gone out the window, and it's "hind under the beanie time"... even though right now we've got the cold norwegian winter going on, and I pretty much wear my beanie most of the day ;)
Thing with the length, I am having a bit of a problem with, is my wonderful girlfriend. She came to me a few days ago (after having been totally against the idea of me growing out my hair, mind you) and told me that when it's down to my shoulders, if she doesn't like it and misses "the man she fell in love with", I better cut it. Problem is, I want it at least a bit under my shoulders, and I am really REALLY hoping she manages to get used to it and be just as happy with it as I... not fun when your significant other ain't so keen on the whole thing.
Either way, this is the ONE time in my life I am putting my foot down and doing what I want to do, so this hair ain't going nowhere (knock on wood!), hehehe
OK, glad you made this closing comment Raul because otherwise we would need to take you to the back room and beat some sense into you! LOL. Joking of course but really its "your hair" and you have the right to wear it as you please:)If she doesn't like it long on you let her wear short hair for some balance;)Good luck my friend.Cheers.
Mârk
Glad I oh-so-barely just escaped the andgry mob lynch!
Don't worrk fellas, I'm good! Long hair is the goal! :)
Hi Raul,
Thank you for sharing with us your most excellent update. You have wonderful thick hair to work with, and I look forward to your future progress.
Also, I just read your reply to Mark regarding your girlfriend, and cheers to you for putting your foot down, and hopefully, she will come around in the future.
Keep it growing,
David
Thank you, David! Always liked hair more like yours, finer and easier to manage... but the older I get, the happier I am about having rather thick hair ;)
Hey Raul,
You've got awesome hair! Your hair is thick and full. Enjoy the fact that your hair is curly; it will look great as it grows out.
Keep away from scissors and razors.
Keep it growing!
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Thanks alot, Raymond!
Thick, airy, fluffy and lots of other things it indeed... But at least I know that once it gets longer, some of the frizziness and curl tame down ;)
Thanks again!
Hi Raul,
What a great head of hair you have to work with -- and no worries, we all started from short hair (as far as I know - LOL); so as the saying goes, "Onward & Downward!"
Please continue to keep us posted on your hair-farming progress!
- Ken in San Francisco
Thank you, Ken!
Sometimes I do wish it was finer hair and definitely straighter, but at the end of the day, we gotta' work with what we have ;)
Will definitely post a monthly front and back pic here, since all the warm comments sure make the jorney more fun :)
