I've been lurking this page for a long time now and decided it was a good time to step out of the shadows. I've been wanting to grow my hair for a long time and it's coming off rather well. This is my 3 year without a haircut since I got my head shaved forcibly on 2011.
What do you people think? Any hair advise is welcome and I thank all of you who inspired me to grow my hair.

I got my head shaved because I needed money, my landlord was going to kick me out of my apartment so I had to sell my hair to a wig maker. After that I decided to join the army and at least here in Greece it's impossible for guys to keep their hair long.

Thanks for that explanation as I have to say what a sad way to loose your magnificent mane:( I guess going into the army was easy at that point being your hair was shaved anyway.Hopefully that experience gave you confidence and helped you with life once you got out.Glad your back to being a longhair again and that life is treating you better my friend.Cheers

Wow! I sure am glad you stopped lurking and posted these pics! I am truly inspired and am totally in awe of your beautiful hair! The color and texture is just so awesome! Your hair looks awesome! Love the color. Btw, how tall are you? I'm 5'11 and I have a long back and it feels like my hair grows slow, or at least your picture makes me feel like my hair grows slow. We both seem to be in similar timeline for hair growing. Coincidence? hmmmmmm

You are quite tall, Rowie. I was thinking you were maybe 5'6" tall. As for the guy in the photo, I estimate a height of 5'6" or 5'7". Lets see if will say how tall he is.

That is a fantastic growth rate, and you are blessed with good thickness as well. If the date on your first photo (Jan. 2011) is correct, you have been able to achieve this in 2 years rather than 3, an even more amazing accomplishment.

I think Skylar's hair is amazing! His growth rate is three times faster than mine. I'd love to relocate to Greece but given their host of problems I've written it off. Greece needs to start a new political party, like the Libertarian Party that exists in many places of the world: www.LP.org

I wonder. Have you ever measured how much your hair grows in a month? You must be about the luckiest man ever to have attained such a length in such a short time. With 1/2" being the "average" monthly rate for most of us, it looks as if you are actually getting double+ that amount. Amazing!

I've never really measured my hair but I noticed that after I reached the length my hair was in a year I felt the growth became slower. I think it was at 1.5 inches of growth per month on the first year, second one must have been 1 inch per month.

That is really interesting and this is the first case I have ever known of where something like this has happened. Always and exception to a rule but wow..........were you EVER lucky! Best of luck to you with your wonderful long hair.

ps: Good. Glad you didn't allow people to tell you that you should cut your hair. I wish these kinds of people would mind their own business.
Maybe it's just me but the pictures seem to reflect two years instead of three...and that kind of growth in two years even three is not possible...perhaps another explanation is due...

Your hair is fantastic, Skyler. Is the starting point with shaved head a typo? 2010? I just can't imagine lower back length hair in 2 years, but 3 years is possible if you are short in stature and with super fast growing hair.

Thanks for the reply Absalom, to be honest it's really been 3 years but my hair growth is quite uneven, haven't really took the time to measure it but at the first year it seemed to grow a lot faster, or at least it was more noticeable. I'm actually quite short for someone my age so that might also be what makes it look longer, that and the fact that I might have leaned my head a to see if the picture was being taken correctly on the last picture.

Oh.......no wonder I couldn't get over such a fast speed of growth. Well, guess now the ? that has been hanging over my head will vanish. LOL :-)
Despite all, the hair is looking very impressive and I give you great credit for actually growing all to this length. Bravo!
I can't be 100% sure in looking at the 3rd photo, but it almost appears from what I can see that the ends are getting really thin which will set you up for all kinds of troubles in the snarls and tangles dept. The slighest of trims may soon just be in order so this won't happen. Perhaps at some point along the way you have colored your hair a lighter color? If so, this could very well account for some of it, but not entirely all of course.

Long hair completely changes your look. I think it puts you WAY over the top. You should keep it long.
